Product Development Engineer-Faculty Practice-Ophthalmology-New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai-Full Time, Days
Develop technology for multiple projects including a high precision surgical robot, novel surgical instrumentation, and intraoperative diagnostics.
Qualifications
Bachelor?s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Applied Science
Minimum of 5 years experience developing medical devices, including strong background in the pre-clinical product development process and clinical testing
Skilled with 3D modeling, printing and rapid prototyping
Functional knowledge of human anatomy and physiology
Experience working with others across multiple engineering fields, including mechanical, software, electrical, and visual/industrial design
Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively
Must have a consistent track record of effectively and clearly communicating concepts, ideas and knowledge to other individuals and teams
Must be able to work and troubleshoot independently, but be able to identify when help is needed
Preferred:
Background in ophthalmic instruments
Basic knowledge of surgery
Experience making microinstruments
Non-Bargaining Unit, BOS - Faculty Practice-Ophthalmology - NYEE, New York Eye and Ear Infirmary
Responsibilities
Collaborate directly with multiple surgeons to develop innovative medical technologies at a major academic medical center
Development of a main project will occupy majority of the time
Remainder of the time will be spent designing or developing other projects upon request

Compensation Statement
Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $87692 - $124999.98 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
