SMBC Planning Specialist Associate in New York, New York

Overview

SMBC is seeking a planning specialist preferably with knowledge of accounting or finance and ability to understand or analyze elements of credit risk. Candidate needs to understand internal/external policies and procedures and contribute improving them.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and improve internal policies and procedures by understanding and assessing regulatory requirements.

  • Analyze credit portfolio and generate several kinds of portfolio reports periodically to meet the deadline as assigned by management

  • Maintains communication with credit analysts in credit department and managers in Front Office to ensure credit standards/policies are fully understood.

  • Ensures sound credit management and best practices in the credit approval process across the organization.

  • Conduct self assessment process, which includes continuous monitoring of events and strength of credit portfolio.

  • Understand contents of approved deals, discuss them with credit officers in charge and generate a report regarding the deals for senior management globally in a timely and accurate manner

  • Handles various periodical and ad-hoc reports in a timely manner

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Finance or accounting knowledge is required

  • Work experience in financial services industry is preferable

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required

  • Excellent inter personal, communication(written and verbal) and analytical skills

  • Ability to work effectively with others and team oriented

  • Business fluency in English is required

  • Japanese language skill is required

  • PC skills including Microsoft Power Point, Word and Excel skills are required
