The Mount Sinai Health System Physical Therapist (PT) Master Clinician-Mt Sinai Hospital- FT- Days- Some weekends in New York, New York
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Physical Therapy Master Clinician is responsible for examination and intervention of referred patients in a clinical and/or administrative specialty as well as leadership and development within that specialty. Serves within the department as well as in the professional community. Serves as a leader within their clinical or administrative specialty. Reports to the Therapy Manager or Professional Practice Manager. This employee is permanent in one location and must have a minimum of five years experience and an incumbent employee of MSH.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs initial examinations, establishes appropriate goals, plans and implements treatment interventions, performs timely re-examinations and modifies goals and treatment interventions accordingly. Coordinates with other disciplines when indicated.
Assumes responsibility for all documentation requirements in a timely manner, i.e., initial examinations, progress notes, monthly summaries and discharge summaries.
Provides training to families or care partners and medical personnel as indicated.
Recommends appropriate durable medical equipment in coordination with appropriate team members. Writes letters of medical necessity when indicated.
Participates in discharge planning, makes recommendations for continued physical therapy and provides home exercise programs when appropriate.
Attends all appropriate conferences, rounds, in-services and meetings.
Will be assigned additional patients in the event that coverage is necessary as dictated by staffing needs.
Attends clinics as assigned.
Maintains therapy attendance records, patient charges and statistics.
Participates in the supervision of Rehab Patient Care Associates, volunteers, and students.
Must be a current member of the APTA.
Must follow all MSH policies and procedures.
Provides an in-service to the Rehabilitation Department annually.
Serves as a clinical instructor to students and participates in student lecture development.
Attends a minimum of two conferences annually.
Participates in research as opportunities permit.
Serves as a resource for coverage and assists the Therapy Manager or Professional Practice Manager in operational planning.
Maintains productivity expectations specific to each service.
Is considered as a primary resource person for coverage and therefore expected to carry an increased caseload at times.
Participates as a representative in interdepartmental meetings throughout the hospital.
Assists the Therapy Manager/Professional Practice Manager in administrative duties (PI measures, stats, inventory etc)
Facilitates weekly P.T. in-service programs at local level.
Assists the Therapy Manager/Professional Practice Manager in coverage planning and orientation.
Serves as consultant to other staff and participates in mentorship of P.T. staff.
Demonstrates leadership responsibility regardless of rotation.
Participates in program development as assigned
Examination and intervention of patients with an emphasis in area of expertise.
Organize/maintain educational activities at local level.
Serves as consultant to other physical therapists and co-treats patients in area of expertise.
Serves as liaison between CCCE and CIs to assist with student program and management of affiliating students.
Initiates ideas and participates in program development for the department.
Demonstrates initiative in leadership activity, clinically and administratively (PI analysis, regulatory agency prep and review, etc...
Takes five (2 day equivalent) CE courses in specialty area.
Serves in a supervisory capacity in the absence of the Therapy Manager/Professional Practice Manager.
Initiates and independently runs programs and liaises with Managers as needed.
Serves as resource for customer service and conflict resolution in Manages absence.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Bachelor's required; Masters preferred
Experience Requirements
8 years related experience

Current PT NYS license
