Description

Established New York City construction organization is currently seeking a Payroll Specialist in Long Island City, Queens. This is a permanent on site position with great benefits and time off. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible but not limited to:

1. Experience with union payroll, understanding its many complexities and details.

2. Process weekly payroll data entries, ensuring accurate and timely processing for 300-400 employees.

3. Support the enforcement of garnishments, to confirm proper legal procedures and amounts.

4. Assist the Head of Payroll in every function, helping to organize data, prepare reports, and manage payroll tasks.

5. Stepping in as back-up during Head of Payroll absences and ensure all payroll related operations are carried out effectively.

6. Address and resolve any payroll-related queries from employees.

Requirements

Experience in managing union payroll is highly desired.

A preference will be given to candidates with experience in the construction sector.

At least 2 years of payroll experience.

Ability to handle, organize, and manage a payroll size of 300-400 employees.

Detail-oriented, ability to carry out tasks with high levels of precision.

Strong knowledge of payroll procedures and laws related to payroll, garnishments, etc.

Excellent communication skills, able to answer payroll-related queries and communicate effectively with employees.

Ability to work as a team and support the Head of Payroll.

Capable of handling complex payroll software and systems.

Self starter, capable of stepping in and taking leadership in the absence of the Head of Payroll
