The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.Position SummaryThe Nutritionist provides direct patient care through individual nutrition counseling, group education, and working on nutrition education projects. In conjunction with supervisor and Student Health Leadership, collaborate on related special projects with other departments in Student Health and external campus stakeholders. Performs other duties as required.Responsibilities- Provides nutrition assessments and treatment to students.- Consults with providers and other staff on patient-related nutrition issues.- Develops on-going in-service education for health care providers.- Responsible for implementing outreach educational programs for special University populations like student groups, including club sports, and residence halls.- Documents all patient visits in the electronic health record.- Maintain schedule and nutrition appointments.- Attends all staff meetings.- Attends University wide committees as appropriate- Participates in the quality improvement program.- Works collaboratively with all divisions of Student Health on Haven.- Participates in the development, review and revision of Nutrition practice guidelines and development of standards, patient-care policies and clinical procedures.- Develops and evaluates own goals for professional growth.Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Dietetics, Nutritional Sciences and/or its equivalent required.- Minimum 3+ years' experience in nutrition services preferably in an ambulatory care setting.- Previous experience working with University population on nutrition issues such as adolescent growth patterns, weight control, food pre-occupation and eating disorders, hyperlipidemia and sports nutrition strongly preferredAbilities Required- Work collaboratively members of the Student Health staff.- Operate in accordance with patient-care policies and clinical procedures.- Knowledge of MS Window Office Professional.- Excellent customer service skills.- Excellent organizational and written/oral communication skills.Other RequirementsProfessional Performance StandardsAssumes a broad base of responsibility for maintaining competence in clinical practice:- Periodic self-evaluation- Peer review- Participation in continuing education- Meeting and maintaining eligibility requirements for professional credential by the Commission on Dietetic Registration- Participation in the development of policies, rules and regulations that govern the Nutritionist roleEqual Opportunity Employer / Disability / Veteran Columbia University is committed to the hiring of qualified local residents.
