WSP bring together a highly accomplished team of specialists to provide an integrated offering based on individual design components. These include structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering, plus a suite of related specialty services, as a single source of responsibility. WSP provides healthcare engineering and advisory services for projects that include major acute hospitals, cancer centers, children’s hospitals, mental health units and healthcare-related research facilities.

WSP is currently initiating a search for a New York Metro / Tri-State Building Systems Healthcare Practice Leader to join WSP growing practice and continue the legacy of providing our clients and communities with creative engineering design solutions that improve the health and human condition of those they serve. WSP is a leader in innovative planning and design, client service and thought leadership on healthcare projects globally and throughout the region. Healthcare Practice Leadership Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility of the Healthcare Leader is to grow and further develop the building systems healthcare practice in the New York/Tri-State area. The successful candidate will focus on developing and winning new business relationships and project opportunities with healthcare organizations and related institutions in New York Metro and regional markets. In addition, they will oversee healthcare projects in a senior leadership role (e.g., Project Principal) and participate in practice management as part of the local leadership team.

  • Local Practice Leadership. Working alongside other practice leaders, grow a well-balanced, interdisciplinary building systems healthcare team in WSP’s office; assess capabilities of staffing resources; grow, develop, recruit, and maintain expertise, balance all aspects of an expertise and design-driven top tier healthcare practice.

  • Collaborate with Firm’s Healthcare Leadership. Work with Regional Healthcare practices and firm wide healthcare leaders to implement key initiatives, investments and strategies for growth and practice development, obtain new project work, generate thought leadership, and contribute towards local office profitability.

  • Build Client Relationships. Develop strong client relationships and serve as a key client relationship manager on projects.

  • Manage Healthcare Practice. Work closely with the New York / Tri-State Buildings Systems Business Manager and the Northeast Business Development Director to ensure that the healthcare practice is meeting the business objectives for the firm, national healthcare practice, regional practice, and local office.

  • Demonstrate Local Leadership. Participate as a healthcare thought leader in professional organizations, activities and services in/around the New York / Tri-State area that furthers the firm vision, value, and relationships.

  • Represent and Advance the Firm. Increase the awareness and understanding within the community of the firm’s healthcare practice on a local, regional, and national basis.

Marketing and Business Development Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate regularly with the New York Business Line Leader for Building Systems and the Business Development Director to review Business Development, marketing, practice growth efforts.

  • Identify, qualify, and develop business leads

  • Develop effective capture plans to convert leads to wins.

  • Coordinate, collaborate and cooperate daily with other Business Development staff and Building Systems Business Line Manager and leverage their roles and assistance to build teamwork and maximize effectiveness and results of all BD and marketing efforts.

  • Lead and oversee the analysis of RFQs and RFP’s and the development of written proposal responses. Develop, craft, and write proposals and oversee the preparation and timely completion of qualifications packages and proposals with all contributing parties both inside and outside the firm.

  • Lead the development of interview presentation strategies, messaging, and all team preparations for winning presentations and interviews.

  • Work and collaborate with the other health leaders, marketing staff and design professionals throughout the firm and particularly within the firm’s Northeast Region to develop relationships and win work.

  • Develop, lead, and monitor targeted marketing strategies, goals, and actions in cooperation with local, regional, and national health marketing leaders. Lead the development of annual strategic market sector planning.

  • Monitor marketing progress, performance indicators, marketing report accuracy, budgets and costs, risk management and manage progress within assigned marketing resource allocations.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • BS in Civil Engineering or related discipline

  • 17+ years of experience in A/E/C industry, primarily in Buildings Systems with a strong focus in Healthcare

  • Professional Engineer (PE)

  • Must have extensive knowledge and experience within the New York Metro / Tri-State and Northeast Region healthcare market.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead a healthcare team and make client presentations.

  • Proven business development experience in healthcare consulting industry.

  • Strong leadership and project management skills

  • Excellent people skills, and verbal and written communication skills are required.

  • Honesty, integrity, passion, teamwork, enthusiasm, energy, drive.

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 20+ years of experience in the A/E/C industry
