The Syndicated and Leveraged Finance (“SLF”) team focuses on lead-agented, active book runner roles. The group works with relationship management teams to ensure the marketability of transactions with optimized structure and pricing. Members of the SLF team maintain an active dialogue with market participants, providing real time transaction and market feedback to both internal and external clients, and supporting the Bank’s pursuit of new financing opportunities. The SLF team develops syndication strategies in support of complex financings, partnering with the Bank’s credit teams to manage risk while ensuring optimal execution for clients.

The Role

As Managing Director in SLF, you will work with the Bank’s current SLF team to significantly increase and expand the Bank’s distribution capabilities across a wide range of lead-managed C&I and CRE financings. As EWB continues to grow and expand its geographic and coverage footprints, there is a unique opportunity for the right individual to grow and work with an expanding team of highly accomplished relationship managers to structure and distribute mission-critical financings. Building upon a longstanding tradition of both well-structured transactions and established relationships with numerous banks and financial institutions, you will become an integral part of further establishing EWB as a market-leading provider of syndicated loan opportunities. The Managing Director will bring current and established relationships with leading national and regional lenders and debt investors, and an established track-record of helping to build and establish a market-leading syndicated and leveraged finance distribution franchise within a diverse and growing institution.

  • Support East West Bank’s SLF team in structuring and distributing prospective syndicated loan transactions and assist in reviewing new lead-managed opportunities.

  • • Evaluation of borrower fundamentals and transaction information including merits, risk and risk mitigations, and preparation of market-based and comparable-supported structure, terms and pricing feedback.

  • • Involvement in preparation of loan marketing materials and syndication process management.

  • • Active participation in marketing and distribution of syndicated loan transactions.

  • • Active sourcing of loan market data, comparable transactions and information on loan market participants across the Bank’s areas of industry focus.

  • • Establishing and maintaining relationships with loan and debt investors; marketing of EWB syndication and institutional capabilities.

  • • Preparation of information updates for internal and external clients based on market conditions and transaction-specific feedback and development.

  • Performing other duties as assigned.

  • MBA-preferred; Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of experience in structuring and/or distributing syndicated loans.

  • • CFA and/or formal credit training with equivalent background a plus (an equivalent combination of education and experience may meet qualifications).

  • • Established and current relationships with numerous banks and other financial institutions actively involved in the syndicated loan market.

  • Experience in structured finance, project finance and healthcare is helpful.

  • • Knowledge of investment banking analysis and financial presentation packages.

  • Prior experience in debt and/or mezzanine private placements to institutional investors also a plus.

  • • Good understanding of credit processes and procedures.

  • • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation and communication skills.

  • • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and track details.

  • • Strong problem solving, organization, planning and follow-up skills.

  • • Must be detailed oriented.

  • • Strong analytical capability.

  • • Ability to meet deadlines.

  • • Series 7 and 63 preferred.
