The Customer Insights team supports Dow Jones strategic goals and their implementation by providing end to end understanding of our markets, customers and products from market research to user testing to rapid testing. This role focuses on Dow Jones’ Consumer and B2B business units which includes The Wall Street Journal, Factiva, MarketWatch, Risk & Compliance and many others.
About the Role:
As a Manager, Experience Research you will be a voice and advocate for users of our websites and apps, learning about their goals, desires and preferences. You will advocate and drive a lean UX research approach ensuring we obtain feedback on our experiences as early as possible from our users to make quick decisions. A focus on iterative learning, overall user experience, and customer outcomes will be key to meeting our goals.
This will be a highly collaborative role requiring partnerships with Experience Architecture, Experience Design, Customer Insights, Engineering, Operations, and Product teams as well as SMEs and partners across Dow Jones.
The Manager, Experience Research will report to the VP, Customer Insights.
You Will:
Works closely with teams within Customer Insights, and across Dow Jones, to drive lean UX research to support the delivery of outstanding end-to-end user experiences for our customers and users, whilst reinforcing brand values and standards
Plans and conducts user research, rapid usability testing efforts, and analysis, delivering actionable evaluations of proposed and current UX solutions
Serves as the key point of accountability for UXR initiatives at every level, covering multiple programs and projects for our consumer and B2B products
Enable designers and strategists to participate in and facilitate user touchpoints as needed
Identify and implement research process improvements
Defines and manages prioritization of the research roadmap for all upcoming projects and on-going incoming requests
Manages a team ensuring that department objectives are met, whilst fostering collaboration, experimentation, agility, and vigorous inquiry, while maintaining high expectations and attention to detail
Oversees delivery of, and typically creates, artifacts that include study analysis and recommendations, research briefs, research plans including participant recruitment and other dependencies
Contributes to organizing user insights in a knowledge repository
Typically manages vendor relationships for outsourced UXR activities
Leads and manages on-going benchmarking initiatives to help products measure, identify and track opportunities for improvement
Strong proficiency with G-suite products and experience with professional collaboration tools such as Jira, Miro, Confluence and Airtable.
Comfortable in a hybrid working environment and know how to influence from a distance.
You Have:
7+ years experience
Bachelor’s Degree in HCI, Communication Design, BFA, or related experience
Experience advocating for research at an organizational level
Proven examples of actionable results that shape and improve the user experience and enable business goals
Background with developing and implementing research standards and best practices
Plan and carry-out various rapid user testing on a regular basis throughout the product development life-cycle
Experience conducting, analyzing and communicating UX research
Experience with remote, unmoderated UX testing tools
Experience with UserZoom or other user testing software
Experience with industry standard digital product design tools (Figma, Adobe CC, Miro)
Basic understanding of rich interactive, consumer, or enterprise web applications
Understanding of latest Web and App user experience best practices
Familiarity with web UI/UX technologies and standards including HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript/JQuery
Understanding of user-centered design principles
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred
- Previous experience managing a team or mentoring junior researchers preferred

Pay Range: $65,000 - $200,000
