Position: Manager, Equipment Planning

Department:Project Development, Planning, Design and Construction

Status:Regular Full-Time (35 hours per week)

Reporting Structure:This position reports to the Senior Director, Facilities Planning & Design

Role

HSS, the world leader in musculoskeletal health, is seeking a Facilities Equipment Planner for an exciting opportunity to collaborate on the continued strategic growth of our organization. As the demand for services at HSS continues to grow, HSS is seeking a dynamic individual to assist in the development of new regional sites and the main campus transformation and support the enterprise space management strategy.

As part of the Planning, Design, and Construction (PDC) group, the Manager will work on project specific and portfolio-level planning. The projects are of various types and sizes, and will impact projects at all points through the design process. A successful candidate will be responsible for programming, planning, and coordinating the general and medical equipment requirements of hospital projects. As part of delivering this service, the Manager will work closely with a variety of teams including Perioperative, Imaging, Inpatient, Ambulatory, Procurement, front-line leaders, and external vendors and consultants. In addition, the Manager will work with these partners to develop and maintain a ten-year capital plan for upgrade, replacement and new equipment for clinical equipment.

Reporting directly to the Senior Director, Facilities Planning & Design, the Manager will be responsible for the following areas:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a ten-year capital plan for upgrade, replacement and new equipment for clinical equipment

  • Coordinate with departments and procurement to create and maintain equipment standards and cut sheets

  • Evaluates a project’s needs and develops recommendations for equipment to be utilized in construction projects including identifying and evaluating existing project equipment to determine potential reuse and/or retirement of equipment. Develops project equipment lists for end user, procurement, and architect/engineer use, according to established standards and guidelines. Maintains knowledge and understanding of emerging technologies and products

  • Work with clinical and operational end-users and procurement to identify general and medical equipment requirements through user group meetings and planning work sessions to establish appropriate type, quantities, placement and use of medical equipment

  • Coordinate equipment specification information from vendors with design team members including architects, engineers and other consultants for the completion of design and construction documents

  • Facilitate meetings with medical personnel to establish appropriate placement and use of medical equipment for patient care.

  • Responsible for preparing reports, schedules, and budgets for the planned equipment under direction of the Senior Director

  • Review project drawings and coordinates equipment utility requirements for the development of architectural and engineering plans. Communicates related information between the project team, hospital personnel, vendors, architects and contractors

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards for equipment installation and use.

  • Assist project PM and procurement team in coordination of delivery, phasing, installation, and operational verification of medical equipment.

  • Spearhead coordination of initial training with vendors and operations teams including clinical, IT, and biomed on new equipment once installed; collect compile and deliver training materials for use of the operations team use as construction project is activated

  • Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (e.g., BA, BS, BSN, BSW) in Business, Healthcare, or related professional degree required

  • Clinical license (RN, PA, NP, etc.)

  • 3-5 years of experience in healthcare equipment planning

  • Preferred experience in project management

Preferred Experience and Proven Abilities

  • Full working knowledge of software including Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint

  • High level of knowledge of the FGI Guidelines

  • Able to take complex, multi-dimensional ideas to paper

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects

  • Demonstrated capacity to multi-task and utilize critical thinking skills to identify and solve problems

  • An effective communicator, capable of determining how best to reach different audiences and executing communications based on that understanding

  • Able to work effectively when the way forward is not obvious, and resilient in recovering from setbacks and skilled at finding detours around obstacles

Pay Range - Minimum

USD $100,000.00/Yr.

Pay Range - Maximum

USD $130,000.00/Yr.
