New York University Junior Research Scientist (P.I.: Nigel Bunnett Lab) in New York, New York

The Bunnett laboratory of the Department of Molecular Pathobiology & Pain Research Center of New York University College of Dentistry seeks an enthusiastic and skilled Junior Research Scientist. The position will provide support to a research team of junior faculty, post-doctoral fellows and students. Ideal candidate will conduct various IACUC approved animal procedures and techniques, maintain a laboratory mouse animal colony in a University barrier facility. Duties include colony management, mouse handling, breeding, and genotyping of multiple transgenic mouse lines.

The laboratory is focused on understanding the mechanisms of chronic pain and in developing new treatments for chronic pain.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $47,500 - $55,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.

Experience is required in standard techniques of molecular and cell biology and biochemistry, including: RT-PCR, molecular cloning, transformation, transfection, cell culture, genotyping genetically modified animals, immunoblotting, and immunofluorescence.

Applicants should also be technically skilled, possess excellent organizational and communication abilities, and be familiar with programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and GraphPad Prism. They should be enthusiastic, eager to learn and be a team player.
