New York University Junior Research Scientist [FTRG] in New York, New York

The Family Translational Research Group (FTRG) within the Center for Oral Health Policy & Management at the New York University College of Dentistry is looking for talented, hard-working people with a passion for understanding and preventing family violence and/or implementation science to join our team. FTRG conducts a wide variety of cutting-edge clinical psychology research on topics ranging from defining maltreatment in ways that can be reliably used by field workers, to determining how couples’ conflict dynamics relate to violence, to examining the effects of family violence on children’s psychological and physical functioning to furthering our understanding of risk and protective factors for child maltreatment and partner abuse. In addition to this basic research, FTRG is involved in several large prevention efforts in the military and is conducting innovative implementation science research. We are currently engaged in two studies examining innovative ways to treat dental fear and phobia to make effective treatment more accessible. Our studies use the full spectrum of research methods — from intensive observational tools to epidemiological surveys. The FTRG typically has least 8-10 active federally-funded projects. The group includes several Ph.D.-level psychologists, masters-level researchers and social workers, bachelor-level research staff, and student volunteers. The FTRG is co-directed by Dr. Amy M. We are looking for individuals to assist with and collaborate on ongoing and upcoming projects. People who join our team can expect great research experience, and, depending on skills and interests, excellent applied experience and opportunities for publications and grant writing. Candidate must have research experience, preferably conducting research on families with relevance to family violence and/or training and experience in large-scale prevention trials. Experience with anxiety treatment is preferred. Experience working in child welfare or with domestic violence is preferred. Candidate will work on several projects. These projects may involve military populations; experience with military families and systems is a strength. The successful candidate will liaise with research partners and external collaborators, manage staff, oversee data collection, develop tracking and management systems, and supervise undergraduate research assistants. Ideal candidates have experience with and expertise in writing, supervising students and staff, and constructing formal communication with research partners. Experience with observational or qualitative coding is strongly preferred. Experience with literature reviews is strongly preferred. Strong interpersonal skills are a necessity. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; MA/MSW preferred.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $50,000 - $70,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
