New York University Junior Laboratory Associate (Saurabh Lab) in New York, New York

Position Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Lab Assistant to join our dynamic research team. The successful candidate will provide essential support for ongoing research projects, maintaining lab equipment, preparing materials, and assisting with experiments. This position is ideal for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in a research environment, especially those considering a career in the sciences.

The terms of employment, which would initially be a year, with a possibility of renewal, include a competitive salary and other benefits. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and candidates will be considered until the position is filled.

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, this position's annual base salary range is $43,888.00 –$ 43,888.00 . New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.

Key Responsibilities:

● Assist in the preparation and execution of laboratory experiments under the guidance of senior lab personnel.

● Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory, including the proper disposal of waste and management of supplies.

● Prepare reagents, solutions, and samples as required for experiments.

● Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring they are functioning correctly and are properly calibrated.

● Record and maintain accurate data and lab notes, ensuring all work adheres to the lab’s protocols and standards.

● Assist in the ordering and inventory management of lab supplies.

● Support in the preparation of reports, presentations, and publications by gathering data and literature.

Qualifications:

● High school diploma or equivalent; current undergraduate students in a related field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry) are encouraged to apply.

● Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

● Ability to follow instructions and work independently as well as in a team.

● Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

● Proficiency with basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).

Preferred Qualifications:

● Previous laboratory experience, either through coursework or prior employment, is a plus.

● Familiarity with safety procedures in a laboratory setting.
