Here at Universal’s Filmed Entertainment Group, we bring our campaigns to life by weaving innovation and creativity into our marketing campaigns. The New York Publicity team is looking for a Junior Publicist who is passionate about film and entertainment and eager to work in the fast-paced and exciting world of publicity.  Working alongside the NY Publicity team, the Junior Publicist will be on the front lines of our marketing campaigns, executing across all Universal titles, interacting with talent, working premiers, press junkets and screenings.

Essential Responsibilities: 

  • Primary contact for various NY press outlets; responsible for pitching and maintaining relationships with those press

  • Pitches and maintains relationships with select New York press

  • Maintains calendars, schedules, books vehicles and updates reports

  • Books hotels for talent who come to NY

  • Escorts talent to appearances and various events

  • Works screenings, premieres and press junkets

  • Fully absorbs, understands and prioritizes all internal hierarchies and functions; including major national press, filmmakers and talent and industry figures

  • Manages the team's internship program

  • At least 2 year of experience in the entertainment industry specifically marketing, promotions or publicity         

  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including overtime during the week and on weekends, when necessary

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be available to work at the Universal Pictures New York office location

  • Must be willing and able to work screenings, premieres and press junkets

  • Must be willing and able to travel for press junkets, set visits, talent appearances, premieres and conventions

Desired Characteristics:

  • Ability to successfully interact with a wide variety of individuals inside and outside of the organization

  • Possesses strong written and communication skills at all levels

  • Excellent computer skills and strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • College degree in marketing or a related field

  • Flexibility to maintain ever-changing schedules and itineraries

  • Able to work well under pressure and be flexible in an ever-changing environment

  • Extremely detail oriented and organized

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

Salary Range: $42.18 - $42.18 as determined by the Local 600 Union
