JPMorgan Chase Investment Bank Legal - Securitized Products - Executive Director, Assistant General Counsel in New York, New York

The role is to lead the Legal Department coverage team that provides transactional and advisory legal support to the Securitized Products Group (SPG). SPG is engaged in a variety of activities related to consumer and real estate assets. The business originates, underwrites and trades mortgage and other asset-backed receivables, and the product mix includes residential and commercial mortgage-backed securities and loans, as well as auto, credit card, student loan and consumer receivables. The group's capabilities include sales, trading, lending, financing, origination, capital markets, syndicate and special opportunities activities on a single platform.

The attorney will join a successful and well-established team of lawyers that is responsible for supporting SPG and providing advice regarding its business and risk management initiatives; negotiating and drafting transaction agreements; assisting with new product development; advising on complex business transactions; providing advocacy on regulatory matters and implementing regulatory requirements; and ensuring day-to-day support of SPG and functional partners. The position entails extensive contact with, and support of, SPG's senior management.


  • A senior lawyer with at least 12+ years of markets regulatory and/or transactional experience.

  • Experience managing a team; strong leadership and collaboration skills.

  • Ab ility to establish strong relationships with senior stakeholders in the business and other functions.

  • Good understanding of current regulatory environment and its impact on the structured finance and securitized products business.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

  • Excellent legal drafting skills and an eye for detail.

  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
