The Business Strategy Team Intern will dive deep into individual technology types in the energy efficiency space at the intersection of New Markets and Products. In this role, you will provide critical support during our initial assessment of business opportunities for Energy Solutions related to high-impact technologies and policies identified by the Energy Solutions Impacts Team and Greenworks Team. This role is a great opportunity for someone in search of a deeper understanding of State (California) and National policy regarding emerging technology and programs, and decarbonization solutions, as well as an understanding of climate solutions in different sectors of the economy.

Research for this internship will touch on a variety of topics. You will help us to systematically assess market demand and capabilities fit, filling out an evaluation matrix with supporting documentation. For market demand, you will assess to what extent programs are targeting that technology or to what extent that policy is being implemented by governments and/or supported by advocates. For emerging technology research, you will support web scrapping and utility program design /evaluation research.

A day in the life of this role:

• Research technology and program/policy and how well they match with Energy Solutions' capabilities.
• Fact finding through a variety of methods: internet research, interviews with Energy Solutions staff, deep dives into individual technology types in the energy efficiency space, and potentially interview stakeholders external to the company.
• Create an evaluation matrix with supporting documentation.
  • Other deliverables include a presentation to the BST with all findings.

• Technically minded and able to take on complex research.
• Basic Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with a team.
• Experience cold calling and gathering, tracking, and sorting data.

Compensation:

• Undergraduate student: $21/hr
• Graduate student: $24/hr
