The Instructor is a non-tenure track position with responsibilities for clinical education and service. Clinical faculty may participate in research or other scholarly or creative activities. The Instructor contributes to a learning environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills. The Instructor in the Department of Ophthalmology will be responsible for providing effective instruction and assessment during clinical practice trainings of residents, fellows and medical students.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participation in the faculty practice of the Department of Ophthalmology, teaching of medical students, residents and fellows, and other educational and research activities
- Support faculty with the development and upgrade the objectives and competencies of the clinical skills of residents, fellows, and medical students.
- Identify and assign appropriate activities and projects that are in alignment with the objectives and competencies for the clinical rotation to enhance student learning.
- Monitor student progress to ensure stated objectives are adequately addressed and met.
- Serve as a role model and mentor for residents and fellows.
- Answer resident/fellow questions and serve as a resource to enhance the understanding of clinical related issues. Share his/her knowledge and skills.
- MD Degree
- License (or eligible) to practice medicine in New York
- Board Certification or Eligibility (ABO)
