JPMorgan Chase Head of Real Estate Banking - Commercial Real Estate Group - Managing Director in New York, New York

Commercial Banking delivers extensive industry knowledge, local expertise and seamless global capabilities to clients-including corporations, municipalities, financial institutions, real estate investors and owners, and not-for-profit organizations. We offer a comprehensive set of financial products and services including credit, asset-based lending, real estate finance and payments. We also provide clients with access to investment banking and asset management services.

The Commercial Real Estate Group is made up of four distinct businesses including Commercial Term Lending (CTL), Community Development Banking (CDB), Agency & Off Balance Sheet Capital (OBS) and Real Estate Banking (REB).

Job summary

As the Head of Real Estate Banking (REB), reporting to the Head of Commercial Real Estate, you are responsible for leading and supervising the delivery of commercial real estate and banking products to top-tier clients active in major markets across the U.S. Delivering these products requires coordination and team work from JPMorgan's Investment Bank and Payments teams. Real Estate banking clients are top-tier national and regional real estate developers, investors, Real Estate Operating Companies (REOCs), Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) and investment funds. Primary property types include multifamily, retail, office and industrial properties. The Real Estate Banking Group has national capabilities and expertise in real estate credit including term lending, subscription lending and construction lending. The Real Estate Banking platform also engages in multi-bank syndications to finance institutional quality real estate investments for clients at both the asset and entity level.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead a national team across multiple locations, driving a diverse and inclusive culture focused on high employee engagement and retention

  • Develop and implement business strategy, and influence change through effective relationship management across a wide network of partners

  • Partner with Commercial Banking Leadership to coordinate a coverage team that includes Bankers, Credit, Investment Bank and Product Specialists to deliver a full suite of solutions

  • Prioritize and identify top prospect and client relationships; track pipeline and develop reporting of team efforts and results

  • Encourage knowledge sharing and help Commercial Real Estate banking and product teams develop fluency on industry trends

  • Identify opportunities for new products, enhancements to meet industry-specific needs

  • Research, maintain, and distribute key industry information including industry financial comparisons, market leaders, competitor insight, regulatory issues and trends

  • Actively participate, syndicate, innovate and support process, policy and technology initiatives designed to mitigate risk; improve speed, quality and overall client satisfaction

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • 15+ years industry and management experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent

  • Extensive, quantifiable experience in commercial real estate originations including product and underwriting knowledge

  • Deep industry relationships with borrowers and real estate centers of influence

  • Demonstrated experience leading cross functional teams within a business development environment

  • Extensive knowledge of mortgage products, financial services, lending, and real estate compliance in addition to sales management techniques

  • Divergent managerial skills including delegation, coaching and demonstrated leadership abilities among peers, team members and senior executives

  • The final officer title and job grade is at the discretion of the firm and will be discussed at the time of offer. It may be different than what is listed on the requisition based on candidate experience level.

Position is a Managing Director eligible role; Executive Directors will need to go through LOB's Managing Director promotion process
