Amalgamated Bank Head of Communications Strategy in New York, New York
Amalgamated Bank is seeking someone to join the marketing team as Head of Communications Strategy.
Purpose of Position:
Amplify the visibility and message of the bank through PR, earned media, strategic content placement and innovation.
Essential Job Functions:
Develop communication strategy that drives visibility and awareness, leveraging a mix of known and innovative channels.
Curate a messaging platform that emphasizes key messages consistently across all touchpoints.
Direct management of CEO engagements, inclusive of scheduling, coordination, talking points and other related tasks preceding, during, and following any engagement.
Cultivate and maintain relations with media and influential professionals (ex: elected officials, thought leaders in issues we care about). Proactively identify speaking engagements to successfully showcase our competitive differentiation.
Develop a proactive strategy for key senior leaders that creates comprehensive messaging coverage. Provide direct, hands-on support for each leader to develop thought leadership content opportunities.
Establish KPIS to measure impact; track and report on an ongoing basis, course correcting as needed to maximize success.
Drive agency, media, conference, and content relationships to elevate and promote earned media exposure across multiple business lines.
Partner with PR and lobby agencies providing strategic guidance and information to help build awareness and reputation.
Manage Issues and Crisis planning and oversight.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, English, Journalism, Public Relations or equivalent experience
8+ years of experience in managing Public Relations, corporate communications or equivalent competencies working in an agency. Multi-functional communications role a plus.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Existing agency and media relationships a plus and ability to develop new relationships and work with agencies, media and employees at all levels, including executive leadership, across a wide variety of company functions.
An entrepreneurial, strategic mindset and fine-tuned project management skills
Comfort and proven ability to succeed in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, start-up environment
Resilient and able to work autonomously in the face of ambiguity.
Ability to juggle many balls at once and manage through high intensity moments.
Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting base salary for this role is between $120,000.00 – $140,000.00. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferrable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
