Job Description

THIS POSITION MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR REMOTE WORK FOR UP TO 2 DAYS PER WEEK, PURSUANT TO THE REMOTE WORK PILOT PROGRAM.

The Communications & Marketing Division is responsible for promoting the Agency’s work through multimedia channels to reach and engage New York City’s diverse communities.

The Graphic Designer will report to the Senior Graphic Designer. Duties of the Graphic Designer will include:

  • Assist with design of Agency materials and marketing collaterals, including but not limited to brochures, flyers, reports, advertising, inspection checklists, posters, signage, custom forms, licensing plates, stickers, etc.

  • Provide design support for Agency digital projects, including graphic needs for the Agency’s intranet, website, social media platforms, and multimedia presentations.

  • Help develop communications and marketing plans for public education campaigns in cooperation with other Agency staff.

  • Coordinate with outside vendors (i.e., printers, translation services, etc.) when needed to provide needed assets or to ensure proper production of print materials.

  • Audit signage and publications in Agency public areas.

Qualifications

(1) A baccalaureate degree, with a major in fine or graphic arts, from an accredited college and one year of full-time paid experience as a commercial or graphic artist; or

(2) A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent plus two years of training in a technical school approved by a state’s Department of Education or comparable governmental agency, in oils, water colors, painting, design, black and white, layout, computer graphics, and other art media, and three years of acceptable full-time paid experience as a commercial or graphic artist.

To be qualified for assignment to Assignment Level II, individuals must have:

(a) at least one year of experience as a Graphic Artist, Assignment Level I; or

(b) the Qualification Requirements described in "1" or "2" above, plus two additional years of acceptable specialized paid experience conceptualizing and initiating graphic art projects.
