Overview

The E-Mobility team supports all of Con Edison's Electric Vehicle initiatives. This organization covers business development, policy strategy, load management, infrastructure programs, incentive programs, technology design, and financial analysis supporting light, medium, and heavy duty electric vehicles and associated chargers. This is a rapidly growing space as the Company works towards supporting the Federal, State, and Local goals of 100% zero emission electricity by 2040. E-Mobility is seeking an individual capable of managing the Interconnection Group. This team supports internal and external customers through the entirety of the interconnection process. You will be expected to be, or become, familiar with Con Edison's new business process for onboarding new electric loads. You should be comfortable working in a collaborative environment in which customer and Company work together to find solutions to challenges. Collaboration is key in all that we do and it is key in our ultimate goal of providing the customer a +1 experience. Other key responsibilities include:Managing a team of management personnelConducting research to provide solutions to technical issues around grid impact and required grid upgrades necessary for electric vehicle charger projectsCollaborate with internal customers such as Energy Services, Customer Engineering, and Regional Engineering to evaluate and improve processes and procedures Serve as a resource and point of contact for customers

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Con Edison, a multibillion-dollar energy utility, is leading the clean energy transition in New York City and Westchester County. We are investing hundreds of millions of dollars annually to integrate distributed resources into our electric and gas systems, support electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and scale adoption of energy efficiency and clean heating technologies across our customers

This is a great role to demonstrate your ability to drive results, apply cross-disciplinary skills to the clean energy space, collaborate closely with diverse teams, meaningfully support customers, and gain firsthand experience with the clean energy transition and the electric vehicle (EV) charging market.
  • Lead the team that supports customers through their grid interconnection journey, coordinating and collaborating closely with e-mobility incentive program teams and Con Edison Energy Services and Engineering organizations, particularly in relation to operational timelines, processes, efficiencies, and program trends
  • Identify opportunities to optimize and improve process efficiencies and drive implementation of any related changes, including new or enhanced functionality to Company systems
  • Lead the team that educates internal program business development teams, program managers, and external program participants and stakeholders on technical interconnection topics related to EV charging stations
  • Monitor interconnection timelines to ensure projects are being implemented according to plan to meet customer needs and ensure there is an appropriate sense of urgency
  • Collaborate with program teams to identify and anticipate program or EV market/technology changes and needs that could impact internal business or system operations
  • Develop related communications or recommendations associated with program, market or technology changes
  • Participate on cross-functional teams responsible for new department initiatives
  • Represent the Companys interests to internal and external stakeholders
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required
  • Ensure that safe work practices are followed, and the environment is fully protected in accordance with Company policy and governmental regulations

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of work experience or
  • Master's Degree and 5 years of work experience
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Master's Degree Degree in engineering or sustainability disciplines or 5 years utility or other business work experience with project management, engineering experience and knowledge of utility new business processes.
Relevant Work Experience
  • Ability to build positive relationships with colleagues and customers who have a diverse set of experiences and approaches in order to drive business results. Required
  • Demonstrated organizational capabilities. Required
  • Demonstrated ability to manage tense, complex, or technical customer issues in a calm, thorough, and professional manner. Required
  • Demonstrated agility and flexibility to deal with ambiguity and comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Required
  • Strong communication, presentation and writing skills. Required
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite (i.e. Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Required
  • Technical understanding of Con Edisons electric system. Preferred
  • Experience with or knowledge of utility new business interconnection processes and operations. Preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of EV charging station interconnection procedures. Preferred
  • 2 years project management experience at a utility in electric operations or engineering. Preferred
  • 2-3 years of experience in site acquisition and development for EV or clean energy projects in Con Edison territory. Preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of EV charging station operations and economics. Preferred
Licenses And Certfications
  • Driver's License Required
Additional Physical Demands
  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
