This role is part of Parametric's hybrid working model, which includes working in the office 2-3 days a week and choosing to work remotely or in the office the remaining days of the week.

THE TEAM The Investment Services and Client Activities team at Parametric: - We are building financial software that that provides solution for some of the worlds most complex financial opportunities. This includes building solutions to provide customized direct index exposure while making tax sensitive asset selection to improve overall after-tax portfolio returns. - We design and build financial software responsible for the account life cycle that starts with the onboarding of accounts, managing all client activities and investment instructions, and finally managing investment accounts as scale.

ABOUT THR ROLE The Director of Fixed Income Software Engineering is responsible for providing technical leadership, project management, process development, training, support, and a technology vision for the Fixed Income Investment Team. The role will work across and within the Investment Systems and Client Activities team as well as Core Services and externally facing Digital Team. The role will work with Fixed Income investors across the Tax Advantaged Bond Strategies and the Quantitative strategies groups to identify business priorities, to design and develop technology solutions, and to improve business processes. This spans across advanced rule-based portfolio analytics, order generation, trading, compliance, client management, integration, reporting and more.

This position will report into the Managing Director of Investment Systems and work closely with the team leads across Technology Teams, Business Analysis as well as Business Partners. In this role, the candidate will develop the appropriate software strategy, striking a balance between: (1) alignment with the growth objectives of the Business; (2) higher performance and consistently high quality; and (3) cost effective application structure and use of new technologies.

A critical objective for this role is to architect and deliver scalable enterprise solutions, leveraging AWS cloud native technologies, designing and implementing micro-services and a relentless focus on performance and resilience.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES - Define and execute on vision to integrate and align Fixed Income Technology with broader Parametric Technology Platform. - Design and develop solution to move redesign applications and move from on Prem solutions to native AWS solutions. - Manage and mentor lead and principal engineers (managing other software engineers) towards defined vision. - Stakeholder management - Work with the Fixed Income Portfolio Managers and technology leads to identify business priorities and shape technology solutions - Provide technical leadership to other Software Engineers. - Design, develop, and maintain services and API to support various business needs - Leverage scalable and distributed computing principles to build the next generation of services - Ensures that software solutions remain integrated, efficient, and appropriate for a highly regulated industry. - Create unit, integration, functional and performance tests - Mentor new or less senior developers - Share experience, knowledge, and ideas to the team to improve processes and productivity

JOB REQUIREMENTS - Strong knowledge of Fixed Income asset management domain - Master's degree in Computer Science or related area of study - 15 years of Experience working within the asset management industry and a good understanding of the Fixed Income assets. A CFA is strongly preferred but not required. - 10 years of hands-on development experience managing all aspects of technical projects with a proven track record of delivering well architected and well written software solutions. - Experience supervising and guiding software development teams and fostering an engaging, collaborative environment. - 10 Years of hands-on Java/J2EE software design and development experience. C# and React experience a plus. - Cloud native development experience: AWS is preferred, but not required - Strong aptitude for highly efficient data structures and algorithms - Strong knowledge of relational databases and SQL - Working knowledge of NoSQL database engines such as Dynamo, Redis, Cassandra, or MongoDB - Proven track record of becoming a subject matter expert in areas related to current assignments. - Strong leadership skills including: o Vision and strategy o Influencing and consensus building o Communication o Total quality commitment o Ownership and accountability o Project management - A creative, self-confident self-motivator with a can do spirit. - Passionate, forward thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards and integrity. - Ability to collaborate and partner across a diverse team tapping the strength and unique skills of every team member. - Assertiveness balanced with a sensitivity toward and concern for people. Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $140,000 and $300,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
