Director of Risk Management
Full-Time
Responsibilities:
Reviews occurrence reports and enters appropriate information into the database.
Refers reports to other involved departments and assures follow-up is complete.
Identifies incident reports requiring further investigation
Performs reporting to regulatory agencies when necessary
Performs investigations of adverse events evaluating liability exposure. Investigations may include contact with nurses, physicians, and hospital employees.
Management of agenda of monthly suits, claims and events meeting (Professional Safety Committee) and ensure availability of committee members for review.
Provides written reports of suits, claims or events, which involve assessing and organizing medical reports and gathering of all necessary facts and information.
Acts as a resource person for hospital employees concerning risk management issues such as informed consent, documentation, patient behavior, policies and procedures, etc.
Investigates patient complaints with potential liability exposure.
Determines the most appropriate method of management and assists in the preparation of grievance response letters.
Participates on committees that address issues with risk management implications.
Provides risk management educational sessions to individual departments or units to address issues such as incident reporting; documentation; compliance with regulatory requirements; management of patient complaints; or other issues as requested or as identified through the incident reporting process.
Provides assistance to AVP/VP of Risk and general counsel in the interpretation and understanding of the medical aspects of malpractice claims.
Performs follow up and the evaluation of potentially compensable claims and events and prepares summary demonstrating analytical skills.
Continuous contact with health care providers and frequent contact with attorneys within and outside the hospital.
Manage special projects as required for risk management and MIAC
Adviser to OPE, Service Excellent and all support departments on management of patients
Qualifications
RN, PA or similar clinical degree
5 years experience in Hospital Risk Management, quality or other similar leadership role
Ability to present to large and small groups
Organized, forward thinker
Excellent writing skills
Ability to multi-task and prioritize
Establish excellent relationships with physicians, senior management, front-line staff
Team player and leader
Ability to maintain level head under pressure
Special project management experience

Pay Range - Minimum
USD $170,000.00/Yr.
Pay Range - Maximum
USD $195,000.00/Yr.
