The Supply Chain Solutions & Business Financing Team (SCS&BF) is part of the broader Business Financing, Payments and Digital Experiences organization (BFPD) within Global Commercial Services. The SCS&BF team strives to provide flexible and digital financing solutions for business customers of all sizes in lead markets around the world and drive key business outcomes.

This is a new director position within SCS&BF, that will have the opportunity to define and implement our Design and innovation function. The role will be responsible for refining our NPD framework to enable new and innovative solutions across the portfolio. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven, independent and product centric individual to help shape the future of how we deliver products and partnerships within the SCS&BF global business; leading with a customer first mindset.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Define and implement best practices for product design and partner integrations, in addition to identifying new tools/techniques that can help the product team become more proficient in design practices

  • This director will serve as the central point of contact, partnering closely with key business and platform stakeholders across the GCS ecosystem to align and prioritize our cross functional/cross product development roadmaps

  • The director will lead a team of managers who, in partnership with the rest of the product team, will define, implement, oversee and evolve our product design methodologies

Other responsibilities include:

  • Support the evolution of how our teams work and plan together through thoughtful design and implementation of lightweight processes that unite our teams, including, but not limited to, design thinking and decision-making frameworks

  • Fostering cross-functional partnerships to break down silos and encourage collaboration

  • Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement that extends beyond the products themselves

  • Zeal for learning; be curious about how our products work and how they compete in the marketplace

  • Develop suitable metrics to enable data driven decisions within the development lifecycle to unlock and drive innovative solutions

Qualifications

  • 3 years of people leadership experience in product development or related field

  • Knowledgeable in AMEX Business Financing and Supplier Payments offerings and external competitive landscape

  • Proven experience in designing and implementing Agile Product Development Methodologies in a matrixed organization

  • Track record analyzing complex data and processes to find and drive innovative solutions

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and drive strong results with limited resources

  • Have excellent interpersonal, strong written, and verbal communication skills, focusing on key messages and actions

  • Demonstrated ability to influence a large number of business partners to drive business value without direct authority

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as computer science, mathematics, engineering, master’s degree preferred
