Position Summary

Business Development Director, OTT Partnerships – Samsung Smart TV BD Group

New York, NY

The Smart TV Content & Services team is looking for a Director to lead Business Development and Strategy for Samsung’s TV business. This role will be responsible for identifying and executing on strategic partnerships that drive revenue, enable new products and services, and enhance the user experience across Samsung’s device ecosystem. This role will support the Sr Director of Business Development, and will offer an opportunity to influence product roadmap and major initiatives within the company. The candidate should possess strong critical thinking and communication skills, and should have experience leading complex, high-impact projects with cross-functional teams. The candidate should have some experience and interest in connected TV, the smart home and Voice/AI.

Role and Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

Business Development

  • Source, define and execute on new content and product partnerships.

  • Grow existing partnerships; identify new areas of collaboration and revenue opportunities with high value partners.

  • Activities will include: defining new partnership opportunities, developing targets and sales materials, drafting and negotiating legal agreements, ongoing account management and relationship building Strategy & Product Development

  • Coordinate closely with Smart TV Product and Engineering to define new products and features that meet both Partner and Samsung business goals

  • Inform long-term strategy and product roadmap around key initiatives related to Voice/AI, the connected home, and new content experiences

  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Marketing and BD groups across Samsung Business Units and develop new products and revenue streams that leverage Samsung’s ecosystem of devices

  • Activities will include: market and competitive analysis, development of concept and product requirements, pitching partners and development of sales materials, complex product and legal negotiations, managing project execution

Skills and Qualifications

Preferred qualifications and skills:

  • 12 to 15 years of overall experience with Bachelor Degree

  • 7+ years of experience of deep knowledge of the connected TV and technology space

  • Strong written, verbal communication, presentation and analytical skills required

  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize multiple complex assignments and projects

  • Experience with complex, senior level negotiations; Experience communicating with and presenting to C-level leadership

  • Ability to read and interpret detailed product development documents and contracts

  • Demonstrated ability to formulate and defend opinions regarding market and competitive direction along with associated impact on company strategy

  • Ability to develop relationships both internally and externally

  • Excellent negotiation skills; ability to influence change, set new directions for business

  • Self-motivated with ability to work in an unstructured environment. Candidates will have a strong operational mindset with a decisive get it done and whatever it takes mentality.
