Fitch Inc Director, Head of Americas Country Risk in New York, New York

BMI is currently seeking a Head of Americas Country Risk based out of our New York City office.

This is an opportunity to join the Americas Country Risk team at the top-ranked independent research provider BMI, a Fitch Solutions Company. You will be contributing to our market intelligence service, providing analytical research for senior decision makers in banks, consultancies, multinational corporations, investment funds and government agencies. BMI delivers macro research, analytical tools and political risk services to the global financial community. We'll Count on You To:
  • Mentor, train and actively work to progress and develop the analysts in the team
  • Inspire and encourage members of the team to perform at high levels of excellence following your example
  • Facilitate communication with internal and external stakeholders, including building close relationships with key analysts and the Sales teams.
  • Manage a complex and diverse workload, balancing analytical & forecasting responsibilities with broader team priorities including training, editing and commercial activities
  • Set the editorial and analytical direction of the day-to-day research output of the team, including providing analytical and thought leadership
  • Be the analytical lead for a portfolio of key countries and thematic regional research
  • Contribute to broader research team-wide projects and initiatives
  • Represent the team and deliver views and forecasts during client engagements as well as at industry events
  • Work proactively with our sales team to support our clients


What You Need to Have:
  • Significant relevant experience in economic analysis, with a focus on the Americas, but we would consider a strong candidate who has been focused on a different region
  • Experience managing a team or group of more junior analysts
  • MA/MSc Economics or relevant work experience
  • Fluent spoken and written English, Spanish helpful, but not necessary
  • Strong public speaking skills
  • The ability to work with and analyze large data sets and forecast across key macroeconomic indicators
  • To write clearly and to explain technical concepts in simple terms
  • The ability to cope with time pressure and tight deadlines

  • CFA designation and excel/python skills
  • Strong communicator with the ability to simplify complex economic trends
  • Curious about the intersection between markets, macro, politics and sectors
  • Interest in the US elections

FOR NEW YORK ROLES ONLY: Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $100, 000 and $135, 000 per year. Actual salaries will be determined on an individualized basis and may vary based on factors including but not limited to education, training, experience, past performance, and other job-related factors. Base pay is one part of Fitch's total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, long-term incentives, and other benefits sponsored by Fitch.
