Role Purpose

The Director, Employee Accessibility & Accommodations, will be a highly motivated and experienced professional who will closely collaborate with teams across NBCUniversal, including Human Resources, Legal, Operations & Technology, and the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion groups within businesses to promote a safe, accessible and inclusive work environment. This position will report to the VP of DEI on the NBCUniversal Corporate DEI team.

Job Duties

  • Function as a subject matter expert and give practical guidance to HR and other key partners on workplace accessibility, accommodation strategies and solutions with a focus on complex accommodation requests and the interaction of leave of absence and workplace accommodation processes

  • Stay informed about industry trends and legal requirements related to employee accessibility and workplace accommodations including, but not limited to, federal and state leave and accommodation laws (i.e., Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA), etc.)

  • Attend seminars and conferences to ensure ongoing education and awareness of accessibility programs and their potential impact on business operations and/or the employee experience

  • Work with the Corporate Diversity, Equity and Inclusion team to ensure DE&I, Employee Resource Groups and other leaders to ensure employee experience programming is created through the lens of accessibility

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate accessibility best practices into policies and procedures and ensure that company protocols and guidelines related to workplace accommodations are up to date

  • Collaborate with IT and Digital Accessibility to identify tools and assistive technologies for common accessibility needs such as screen readers, magnification, voice input and recognition, closed captioning, and communication services 

  • Partner with HR and Legal on development and delivery of training content/programs on disability awareness, accommodation procedures, and related topics

  • Develop metrics and systems to monitor organizational accommodation trends and the effectiveness of accessibility programs. Prepare regular reports for senior management on the status of accessibility initiatives and accommodations 

  • Operate as a leader for the myAbilities Employee Resource Group by helping to identify continuing education and professional development opportunities

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in related fields of Human Resources, Employee Relations, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, or another related field

  • 10+ years of professional experience

  • 5+ years of experience focused on employee accessibility and accommodations with an in-depth knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations as well as other applicable laws outside the U.S.

  • Proactive, self-starter

  • Excellent time management and task estimation skills

  • Detail-oriented and ability to think creatively to resolve complex issues

  • Positive relationship-building skills with capability of developing deep relationships and serving as a trusted advisor to employees at all levels of the organization

Additional Requirements

  • Must be willing to work in Universal City, CA or New York, NY

  • This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week

This position is eligible for company-sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks. Salary range: $135,000 - $170,000 (bonus and long-term incentive eligible).
