As part of the CI journey, the CI Central Team will ensure that business units have the knowledge and capabilities in place to plan for the transformation, create a culture of continuous improvement, drive improvement in service delivery, develop a customer-driven culture and establish a new way of managing how work is done within the company.

The Head of the CI Academy is responsible for driving and implementing the CI Academy and CI training and development strategy, including: designing, owning, and implementing the delivery of CI training and development strategy; maintaining formal accreditation and certification program for Senior Change Leaders, Change Leaders, Change Agents, Senior Sustainability Leaders, and Sustainability Leaders; and maintaining the Communality of Practice. Beyond aggregating and improving training materials based on feedback, this person will be called upon to lead certain training modules as well as develop the facilitation skills of other trainers. As a senior member of the CI Central team, this person will also be an advocate for CI in their interactions with staff and leadership throughout the organization and be responsible for building interest and buy-in for the CI transformation throughout the company.

Design, own, and implement the delivery of CI training and development strategy

  • Build, maintain, and implement training and development plans designed to build different capabilities and facilitate the right mindset and behavior shifts for different stakeholder audiences (i.e. line staff and leaders, sr. leadership, navigators) to support CI deployments

  • Library of comprehensive training materials

  • Coaching interventions for CI Change Agents, line management, and executives to leverage when challenges arise

  • Real-life case examples of tools/concepts applied within the company

  • Revise training strategy and plans as needed in line with best practices, business needs, and feedback received from business leaders, front-line managers, Change Agents, and Change Leaders

  • Maintain training facilitator capability matrix and plan to manage the company training capabilities to close capability gaps and increase training capability

  • Drive effective delivery of CI training throughout the organization ensuring a consistent approach to building capabilities across implementations

  • Create, maintain, and update a suite of training modules that:

  • Cover all key elements and capabilities required to support the execution of the implementation models (4 loops)

  • Incorporate effective learning principles and engage audiences in interactive ways

  • Leverage existing training materials and offerings from HR or other providers

  • Include relevant and recent real-life case examples of tools/concepts put to use in “real-world” contexts

  • Ensure that materials are used consistently in all CI implementations

  • Deliver the company coaching sessions to business leaders, Change Leaders, and Change Agents

  • Create and maintain a central library of materials to serve as a “single source of truth” for the most up-to-date training material

  • Create and maintain the Sustainability Assessment methodology (including an assessment tool, standard schedule, and debrief template)

Build and maintain formal accreditation and certification program for Senior Change Leaders, Change Leaders, Change Agents, Senior Sustainability Leaders, and Sustainability Leaders

  • Develop formal four step Change Lead / Change Agent accreditation and certification program (composed of written examinations and field-based performance)

  • Develop Change Leader, and Change Agent skills matrix

  • Develop formal Sustainability Leader accreditation and certification program (composed of written examinations and field-based performance for Sustainability Change Agents)

  • Develop Sustainability Leader skills matrix

  • Partner with CI Head of Deployment and HR to support Change Leader and Change Agent talent management processes

  • Partner with Head of Sustainability and HR to support Sustainability Leader talent management processes

  • Develop and execute bi-weekly community of practice events

Maintain Community of Practice events

  • Oversee execution of bi-weekly community of practice events

  • Set quarterly schedule with topics determined in prior to the start of the quarter

  • Assign presenters and supervise preparation of materials

  • Develop and maintain CI reading list

Build executive awareness & buy-in

  • Build credibility of and promote CI amongst organizational leaders up to and including the EC through the delivery of immersion sessions, formal and informal executive communication

  • Create and maintain a plan to develop awareness at the executive level and to generate interest before, during and after the transformation

  • Coach executive sponsors and slot leaders on role modeling and CI Leadership through formal CI Leadership training programs

  • Coordinate immersion sessions (i.e. go-and-see visits) to other leading Lean companies

Experience:

  • Deep experience in Continuous Improvement programs applying lean techniques

  • Experience managing multiple large-scale projects using a mixture of internal and external resources

  • Demonstrable track record in learning and development

  • Demonstrable experience as an effective group facilitator, comfortable facilitating training sessions with audiences at all levels of the organization

  • Experience managing influencing and coaching stakeholders at all levels

  • Team leadership experience preferred

Technical Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of the CI implementation phases (prepare, diagnose, design, implement, replication, sustain), the core analyses/activities aligned to each phase, and specific understanding of the redesigned process in their business area

  • Knowledge of the 4 loops and how the tools support the loops

  • Knowledge of core Lean principles that CI is built upon and the importance of mindsets and behaviors in a Lean transformation

  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and effective learning program design

  • People Management:

  • Leadership style that reflects the intrinsic qualities of the CI Leadership competencies

  • Manage a team of training leads

  • Financial Management:

  • Responsibility for Central Team budget and resources as it applies to the CI Academy
