Win (Women In Need) Communications Intern in New York, New York

Purpose of the Opportunity

The Communications Intern is responsible for supporting the general administration and creation of communications materials. The Intern will report to the External Communications Manager to support administrative tasks, assist with content creation for public facing channels, and assist with public-facing advocacy efforts in media and beyond. This position is ideal for a student who is interested in public policy, social justice, and development/marketing. The candidate must have an interest in an organization focusing on homelessness services. This is a paid internship and college credit is available.

Responsibilities:

· Support External Communications Manager with monitoring social media presence, community, and posting.

· Assist with graphic design deliverables for social media, web, and print media.

· Research, write and edit a variety of communications materials, including social media posts, donor-related materials, email newsletters, scripts, and more.

· Draft and review written materials and proofread internal and external content to ensure appropriate branding and messaging.

· Provide administrative support to the Communications department.

· Collaborate with the team on new ideas and tools to help enhance communications strategies and internal processes.

· Assist with web redesign and content management.

· Help coordinate logistics for meetings, special events and more.

Essential Functions:

· Must be able to travel to various Win locations and event locations throughout New York City using public transportation.

· Must be able to sit at a computer for most of the workday.

Qualifications:

· Matriculating student in an accredited college or university with a major in sociology, urban planning, public policy, government, political science, communications, marketing, nonprofit management, or another related field.
