The anticipated salary range for this role is between $86,000.00 and $143,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

SMBC Capital Markets Inc continues to grow its Global Markets Group in the Americas. The Front Office Business Analyst / Technology Project Management Team is focusing on modernizing our technology, focus on our data driven approach, growth and plan for the future to align with the Global Markets Group strategy. As a result of this expansion, we are seeking a Front Office Business Analyst / Project Manager to focus on building out our Front to Back Trade Support across bilateral and cleared Interest Rate Derivatives products.

Role Objectives

  • Business Analysis for strategic projects and enhancements.

  • Facilitate daily/weekly scrums, sprint planning sessions, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

  • Support agile activities, including user story creation, acceptance criteria definition, product backlog grooming, and identifying key dependencies and risks.

  • Coordinate with Department stakeholders to track milestones, deliverables, and dependencies.

  • Collaborate with Agile Delivery Lead on the creation of the solution roadmap and providing timely status of deliverables related to roadmap execution.

  • Facilitate requirements gathering and design sessions with business and technology stakeholders.

  • Analyze and document technical requirements and business/technical process workflows through Project Initiation Documents and Business Requirements Documents.

  • Document QA test plans and execute test cases. Liaise with business users to create test plans, manage testing, and track defects, enhancements, and questions.

  • Write user documentation and conduct training sessions on new functionality as needed.

  • Assist with production implementation & coordinate user validation

  • Participate in general BA work including production support and BAU enhancements of in-house business applications.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 3+ years of experience in bank capital markets as a business analyst with experience relating to Front, Middle Office and/or Back Office system implementations or equivalent operational experience.

  • Basic understanding of components of regulation: Capital Standards, Confirmations, Clearing, Portfolio Reconciliation, industry-standard Margining and Collateralization practices and Trade Repository Reporting is a big plus, OTC Bilateral & Cleared Products conventions

  • Prior Business Analyst experience in Capital Markets or Fixed Income Products

  • Trade support knowledge across booking new trades, lifecycle events (Allocations, Novation’s, Backloading)

  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively and confidently with users, team members.

  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking and problem solving skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.

  • Strong work ethic with focus on meeting deadlines and objectives

  • Strong skills working with MS Excel, MS Project, MS Word, MS Power Point & SharePoint.

  • Advanced MS Excel & MS SQL experience a plus.

  • Bachelor's degree. Finance, Computer Science or Information Systems preferred.
