The Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery is searching for a Billing Coordinator. The incumbent will coordinate revenue cycle duties, resolve billing issues and inquiries, and process reports.
Reporting to the Director of Revenue Cycle, the Billing Coordinator II will perform revenue cycle duties including charge entry, denial management, accounts receivable follow-up, payment posting, adjustment management and other duties within the EPIC work queues.
The Billing Coordinator II interacts with the CRO authorization and referral team to resolve billing issues and discrepancies.
They will check non-participating physician out-of-network benefits and obtain authorization where required, answer and address telephone calls related to patient and insurance company billing inquiries.
The Billing Coordinator II will process COGNOS reports as part of a developing portfolio of standard departmental reports and will perform pod coverage for Revenue Cycle team, as well as other duties as assigned.
- Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus three years of related experience.
- Knowledge of Columbia University EMR (EPIC), medical terminology, CPT, and ICD-10.
Minimum three (3) years of experience in medical billing, preferably in an academic medical center. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Excellent customer service skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook).
