Description We are offering a long term contract employment opportunity for an Auditor in the revenue management sector, located in New York, New York. The selected candidate will be responsible for analyzing accounts, maintaining accurate records, and reconciling cash transactions. The role also involves preparing materials for audit and ensuring compliance.
Responsibilities
• Analyze Bursar and Continuing Education department trial balances to identify irregularities in the general ledger accounts and remediate any accounting discrepancies.
• Monitor and manage the collection of revenue and accounts receivable related to Tuition and Fee accounts.
• Prepare and analyze daily journal entries for Tuition and Fee cash account transactions.
• Review and analyze college bank reconciliations quarterly to ensure completeness and accuracy and provide feedback on discrepancies.
• Ensure the completeness and accuracy of revenue records by reconciling to information from operations and identifying reasons for revenue variances and out of period adjustments.
• Assist in preparing audit schedules, providing support for auditor requests, and preparing materials for external compliance activities.
• Maintain financial data to provide fiscal reports to management.
• Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis as necessary. Requirements • Familiarity with operations and compliance regulations
• Proficiency in reviewing cash activity and managing accounts receivable (AR)
• Experience with audit processes and collection procedures
• Strong understanding of revenue accounting, general ledger maintenance, and journal entries
• Ability to perform bank reconciliations and identify discrepancies
• Expertise in making adjustments and conducting variance analysis
• Knowledge of fiscal management and ad hoc reporting
• Capability to manage year-end close procedures and issue resolution
• Skill in maintaining trial balance and managing tuition accounts
• Experience in preparing materials for audits and other accounting activities
• Proficiency in handling account transactions and ensuring completeness of financial records
• Ability to prepare audit schedules and reconcile cash accounts.
