The Trustees of Columbia University in the City of New York Associate Research Scientist in New York, New York

The Brickman Lab at the Taub Institute for Research on Alzheimer's Disease and the Aging Brain focuses on the use of neuroimaging and fluidic biomarkers to try to identify factors involved in cognitive aging and dementia. We are currently inviting applications for a position at the rank of Associate Research Scientist.

The primary focus of this position is to work on projects related to cognitive aging and dementia, with a particularly focus on the vascular contributions to clinical outcomes and pathophysiology. The suitable candidate will be expected to lead neuroimaging analyses, manage a variety of collaborations with academic national labs across disciplines, and will mentor and train personnel. Additional responsibilities include the preparation of manuscripts for publication and presentation at professional conferences. Various opportunities are available to collaborate closely with several investigators and to join national and international research efforts that use neuroimaging to identify neurobiological factors implicated in cognitive aging and neurodegenerative conditions.


Minimum Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated holder of a PhD, MD or MD/PhD degree with experience in neuroscience, psychology, engineering, computer science or related fields, 3+ years of research experience with neuroimaging, and a strong scientific publication record. Familiarity with and a keen interest in the field of aging and dementia is highly advantageous.

The ability to be proactive in solving problems, exercise sound judgement and discretion, and maintain a high level of confidentiality is essential. Must be highly organized, have the ability to handle multiple deadlines, and be enthusiastic about joining a diverse team of like-minded researchers.

Preferred Qualifications:

The successful candidate will be able to contribute towards building an exciting scientific environment with positive leadership skills. Experience with high-level neuroimaging analysis and application would be beneficial.
