The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Office of the Senior Vice Provost works across and with a wide variety of programs, partnerships, initiatives, and reporting units to advance of the Office of the Provost's mission of academic excellence. Within this unit, the portfolio of the Senior Associate Provost for Administration and Planning includes a diverse range of high priority programs and initiatives. Content areas and reporting units include PreK-12 schooling, faculty housing, international travel support and emergency response, The School at Columbia University, Tompkins Hall Nursery and Child Care Center, and external partnerships.

Reporting to the Senior Associate Provost for Administration and Planning, the Associate Director for Administration and Planning assumes overall responsibility for day-to-day administrative maintenance of programs and projects across multiple content areas. The successful candidate independently manages and executes projects that support the strategic planning, development, and implementation of items within this portfolio and delivers highly polished final products to facilitate decision making and program execution.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain data and respond to needs related to the faculty housing portfolio, University-wide policy, and relevant programs, including working with partner offices to gather relevant data to respond to faculty housing-related inquiries from schools; drafting responses to inquiries about eligibility and exceptions; overseeing and managing the University's Housing Mobility Program; and researching and preparing materials for meetings.
  • In partnership with the Senior Associate Provost, provide day to day and ongoing support to The School at Columbia University and to Tompkins Hall Nursery and Child Care Center, including overseeing and managing the Office of the Provost commitment process for admission at The School at Columbia University; working closely with Columbia University Human Resources and The School at Columbia on individual applicant eligibility inquiries; and facilitate access to University resources to leadership in both units.
  • In collaboration with the Senior Associate Provost, enhance and expand programming and access to resources for programs with external cultural and educational partners, including compiling data, drafting communications, monitoring program uptake, and enhancing programmatic options where needed.
  • Provide communications support, including developing and maintaining and maintain annual calendar of regular communications and creating and maintaining templates for regular communications where needed.
  • Compile and analyze program data; prepare reports and recommendations to improve outcomes or address discrepancies.
  • Provide support as needed for special projects and in other content areas, such as PreK-12 schooling and international travel review, support, and emergency response.
  • Facilitate renovations and relocations of staff and/or teams within the Office of the Provost.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree is required, as well as 4 to 6 years of related experience in a university or other complex organization.

  • Competency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint, as well as Google products, and capacity to learn other programs as needed
