WSP USA Assistant Vice President, Water Resources Engineering in New York, New York

This Opportunity

Join our team of experts to build the next generation of stormwater resiliency projects! WSP is currently initiating a search for an Assistant Vice President/ Senior Water Resources Design Lead for our NYC, NY office with an emphasis on leading design and construction of blue-green infrastructure and flood resilience projects with a focus on multi-purpose use and community benefits. As a key member of our water team, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of water resources projects with established expertise locally and expertise from across the country that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact

  • Utilizing your expertise to enhance our technical skillset and clients in the NYC and Northeast.

  • Lead engineering analysis and design of water resources infrastructure projects including blue-green infrastructure, hydraulic control structures, drainage conveyance systems, pump stations, flood control systems; prepare design drawings and specs, and construction documents.

  • Manage and/or support our Project Managers with planning and designing water resources projects for our local municipal, regional, private utility, and federal markets.

  • Lead and/or support pursuits and proposals.

  • Perform hydrology and hydraulic calculations/modeling and determine design requirements for stormwater and water resources infrastructure.

  • Prepare application and supporting documents in support of local, state and federal permitting requirements.

  • Develop strong client relationships.

  • Actively participate in professional civic engagement organizations.

  • Mentor our early career professionals and interns.

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

  • Support initiatives by taking on additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering or closely related field.

  • 10+ years of relevant post-education experience in the fields of urban green stormwater infrastructure, linear water infrastructure, wet weather planning/management, stormwater resiliency with an emphasis on leading design and planning work.

  • Professional Engineering License in NY and ability to apply for reciprocity in other States.

  • Demonstrated experience as an engineer of record for built projects within budget and set schedules.

  • Knowledge and record of working with agencies including but not limited to NYC DEP, NYC DDC, NYS DEC, USACE, FEMA.

  • Proven record of leading multi-disciplinary teams and sub-contractors on planning and design of water resources projects

  • Experience and strong knowledge of AutoCAD production and civil design software (Civil 3D) and GIS software and applications.

  • Experience with hydraulic modeling software (PCSWMM, HEC-RAS, Infoworks ICM, etc.) and interpreting modeling results.

  • Ability to learn new modeling software and techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, and comply with company policies.

  • Prior team management experience with strong team building and mentoring skills.

  • Strong skills with technical writing, presentations and communications.

  • Attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.

  • Demonstrated excellence and innovation in providing high quality level technical performance.

  • Ability to travel to project sites within the Northeast to support business needs.

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

  • Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Sustainable professional certifications (Envision or LEED)

  • Advanced experience in Civil 3D pipe network and/or pressure network is a plus.

  • Trenchless technology applications.

  • Master's Degree in the above referenced disciplines.

Compensation

Expected Salary: $111,200 - $198,220

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
