New York University Assistant Research Scientist (P.I.: Lorel Burns) in New York, New York

NYU College of Dentistry is the largest dental school in the country. Research is an essential part of the mission of the College of Dentistry and as such is also a part of the teaching mission for health science students. NYU College of Dentistry has one of the largest and most rapidly growing research programs in the country, and one of the most successful in terms of attracting federal funding. An important part of NYU Dentistry's research strategy is translational research. We firmly believe that in today's world, groups of researchers must work together synergistically in order to move fundamental basic science research into practice. This integrated approach drives the majority of the research conducted today at the NYU College of Dentistry.

The Department of Endodontics at NYU College of Dentistry is seeking and individual with strong programming, data management, and analytical skills to work with dental claims data to evaluate multiple health services and dental care interventions. Responsibilities will include: downloading, merging, cleaning, documenting, and managing all-payer fee-for-service claims and managed care encounter datasets; analyzing data quality and integrity; identifying and solving data quality problems; coding and creating new variables;preparing analysis files; producing statistical summaries, charts and tables. Other responsibilities include research coordination, including assisting with preparing and maintaining Institutional Review Board (IRB) and regulatory paperwork for new and ongoing research effort within the Department of Endodontics.

This is a grant funded full-time position and benefits eligible including NYU tuition remission.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $68,000-$80,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.

Required qualifications include: Bachelor’s in a related field, a Master’s degree is preferred.

Demonstrated experience with R or statistical language; experience with large database management (such as administrative claims data); knowledge of statistical principles and experience developing statistical analyses plans for study protocols, excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, time management skills and ability to work in a team setting on diverse assignments.
