ABOUT THE COLLEGE

John Jay College of Criminal Justice is a senior college of the City University of New York (CUNY) and an internationally recognized leader in educating for justice. Led by President Karol V. POSITION OVERVIEW

John Jay College of Criminal Justice invites social scientists in the interdisciplinary field of international criminal justice (ICJ) to apply for a tenure-track, joint appointment as an Assistant Professor in the Bachelor of Arts Program in International Criminal Justice (ICJ BA) and the Master of Arts Program in International Criminal Justice (IC&J MA) and in a department to be determined by the candidate’s PhD or area of research. (Possible home departments include Criminal Justice; Law, Police Science and Criminal Justice Administration; Sociology; Political Science; Economics; Anthropology; Africana Studies; and Latin American and Latinx Studies, with all personnel matters handled through the home department.) The position begins in Fall 2025.

The College seeks to hire a promising scholar researching international crime and justice issues. The college is especially interested in researchers working on topics of growing policy importance such as transnational crime and cyber criminology, including but not limited to topics such as cybercrime, cyber organized crime, online fraud, dark web activities, digital privacy and surveillance, social media and crime, AI and predictive policing, digital legislation, cyber terrorism, digital harassment, and the impact of emerging technologies on crime and justice, broadly defined. Additionally, the candidate should possess knowledge of sociological perspectives on crime, law, deviance, social control, and justice. This position requires proven ability to publish high-quality peer-reviewed research.

The successful candidate will perform teaching, research and guidance duties in their area(s) of expertise, to include teaching in their home department and in the BA and MA programs in ICJ. Applicants must demonstrate that they are qualified to teach core courses in the BA and MA ICJ programs. They also share responsibility for committee, department and ICJ program assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions. Candidates are expected to bring enthusiasm and demonstrated commitment to teaching and to develop and maintain an active research and publication agenda. QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. degree in area(s) of expertise by June 2025 (ABD applicants will be considered but JDs are insufficient). Publications and teaching experience preferred. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

COMPENSATION

$52,667- $99,532 Salary commensurate with education and credentials.
