NBC Universal Assistant Food Stylist, TODAY Show (PEP) in New York, New York

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Food Stylist to help prepare food for television, web, and various other mediums. This person will work closely with the Culinary Producer to prepare the dishes and to use styling techniques, so food looks desirable and lasts for the length of the TV spot and/or photo shoot.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a short term position with an estimated duration of 24 months or less, unless otherwise amended or terminated as deliverables within this project are completed. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the Culinary Producer with brainstorming, development of food/Culinary segments for the broadcast.

  • Aid in the planning, prepare and style food for product demonstration.

  • Interact and educate show hosts and guests on food preparation tips.

  • Organize and keep kitchen clean and free of safety hazards.

  • Interact with buyers regarding product list and determine what foods are needed to be presented.

  • Shop for food item to be demonstrated on-air.

  • Work closely with photo stylist to execute food production demonstration. Inventory all kitchen items and ensure they are placed back in the proper room after use.

  • Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.

  • At least 1 year of food experience at a top lifestyle website, publication or channel

  • A bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts or equivalent professional experience

  • Must be an organized self-starter with exceptional time management skills

  • Should be able to work efficiently in a high-paced and high-energy environment.

Desired Characteristics:

  • A passion for food content and a proven track record of sourcing content that fits within a specific editorial voice and aesthetic.

    What we’ll offer: Production Employee (PEP) Regular who works more than 1,000 hours per measurement period:  

  • Eligible for 401K after 1,000 hours worked in 12 consecutive months  

  • Eligible for Health and Welfare benefits on 1st day of employment  

  • Eligible to participate in Employee Stock Purchase Program after 90 days of employment 

Salary range: $33/hr - $40/hr
