The Global Fixed Income, Currency and Commodities team (GFICC) at J.P. Morgan Asset Management is one of the world's deepest and best-resourced fixed income managers, with expertise across all major fixed income sectors, including niche markets. Every investment decision in our fixed income solutions is underpinned by the proprietary research of a globally integrated team of sector specialists. Global Fixed Income, Currency and Commodities manages a broad range of strategies, through funds and/or separate accounts, including broad market, long duration, stable value, intermediate high yield, emerging market debt, short and ultra-short duration, global bonds, structured products, mortgages and tax-aware strategies. J.P. Morgan Asset Management's Customized Bond Portfolio (CBP) team resides within GFICC and manages more than $160 billion of separately managed accounts across corporate bonds, broad markets, municipal bonds, and preferred equity.
As a Portfolio Manager within the taxable CBP team, you will be responsible for designing, constructing, and overseeing separately managed account (SMA) corporate bond portfolios. You will work closely with a team of experienced portfolio managers, fundamental credit research analysts and traders to determine portfolio construction, sector and issuer positioning, and identify investment recommendations. You will also be required to present before existing and prospective clients, presenting broad market color as well as the team's investment philosophy and objectives.
Job Responsibilities
Manage portfolio with an active role in the investment and portfolio construction decisions for new and existing separately managed accounts, including sector positioning and security selection
Partner with clients to develop customized fixed income portfolios across Investment Grade and High Yield asset classes
Collaborate with our credit research teams to identify market trends, analyze individual credits and assess relative value across securities
Present our investment strategy and process to clients and prospects, including current market insight and views; performance reviews
Partner with a wide range of teams and partners to improve portfolio management processes and enhance efficiencies
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
Minimum 4 years of corporate bond portfolio management and/or research experience
Strong knowledge of investment grade and high yield corporate credit markets
Excellent data and analytical skills. Experienced with Excel.
Experience using Bloomberg
Demonstrates strong drive to pick up tasks and learn quickly
Adaptable, innovative, team player, and results-oriented, with an ability to bring proactive solutions to the broader PM team
Excellent responsiveness and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail
Must possess exceptional communication skills both written and oral and be able to communicate their thoughts to external clients and internal partners
Energetic and decisive, with a high level of integrity
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
Strong preference for individuals with prior fundamental credit research experience (investment grade/high yield)
CFA designation
VBA, Python, or other coding experience a plus
Experience with portfolio management tools such as Bloomberg, Investortools/Perform
Experience managing separately managed accounts
