The Opportunity

Skadden is looking for an Alternative Fee Agreements Senior Analyst to work in the Client Accounting department in our New York office. The Senior Analyst will review and analyze documents and data, synthesize and present information regarding Alternative Fee Agreements. This position will lead complex analysis projects and work closely with partners and senior management to meet the objectives and evolving needs of the Firm.

  • Analyzes documentation and data to create and manage database records summarizing alternative fee agreements (AFAs); performs ongoing maintenance of related database.
  • Works cross-functionally, joining data from various sources, interpreting findings, and summarizing results within the context of legal services provided.
  • Reviews and analyzes investment and realization reports, and communicates key performance metrics on individual matters and portfolios of business, to evaluate success of engagements subject to AFAs and identify areas for improvement.
  • Designs and implements effective reporting schedules and systems to assist partners in monitoring and forecasting client engagements against established budgets
  • Compiles and analyzes historical data, tracks competitive market data, identifies trends, and recommends optimal fee structures to offer services profitably, monitoring Firm performance in comparison to market trends.
  • Drafts fee proposals based on the nature of services and type of fee arrangement, and suggests competitive fee structures.
  • Serves as resource regarding the application of analytical methodologies and accounting processes to advance the Firm's approach to AFAs, and to facilitate implementation of AFAs in compliance with client billing agreements.
  • Advises on key considerations relating to alternative fee proposals and assists partners in presenting and explaining fee proposals to clients, in a manner that demonstrates strategic thinking about AFAs.

Qualifications:

  • Solutions-oriented, critical thinker with proven ability to leverage precedent and historical data to problem solve and support effective decision making
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and planning skills to drive continuous process improvement and streamline workflow to accomplish departmental goals
  • Adept at synthesizing, interpreting and summarizing quantitative and qualitative data in a clear and concise manner to various constituencies, both verbally and in writing, without significant supervision
  • Strong Excel background and experience with relational databases, with the ability to learn new software and operating systems
  • Results-driven and operates well within a fast-paced and multi-constituent framework, interacting professionally and collegially with all levels within the Firm
  • Manages time and priorities well to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrates flexibility and initiative with respect to handling multiple projects and shifting priorities
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrates close attention to detail
  • Flexibility to adjust hours and work the hours necessary to meet operating and business needs

Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of five years' related experience

The starting base salary for this position is expected to be within the range listed under Salary Details. Actual salary will be determined based on skills, experience (to the extent relevant) and other-job related factors, consistent with applicable law.

Salary Details

$120,000 - $130,000
