Meta AI Research Scientist - Generative AI Red Teaming in New York, New York

Summary:

Meta is seeking Research Scientists to join its Generative AI (GenAI) organization, focused on making significant advances in AI. We work on the flagship Llama multimodal models and products for the company, making sure they are developed in a responsible way and with the highest standards. Red teaming and stress testing these models is a critical part of this process where the candidate will be part of.We are currently seeking talented researchers with experience in Language Research to join our NYC/MPK sites and work with us on extending the capabilities of large foundation models. Researchers will drive impact by: (1) open sourcing high quality code and reproducible results for the community, and (2) bringing the latest research to Facebook products for connecting billions of users, (3) pushing for state-of-the-art research and publishing papers and technical reports. The chosen candidate(s) will work with a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and cross-functional partners, and will have access to cutting edge technology, resources, and research facilities.

Required Skills:

AI Research Scientist - Generative AI Red Teaming Responsibilities:

  1. Work towards long-term ambitious research goals, while identifying intermediate milestones.

  2. Influence progress of relevant research communities by producing publications, technical reports, and open source code.

  3. Contribute research that can be applied to Meta product development.

  4. Lead and collaborate on research projects within a globally based team.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. PhD degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or similar quantitative field.

  2. Publications at peer-reviewed AI conferences (e.g. *ACL, EMNLP, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR).

  3. Experience in training, fine-tuning, and/or experimenting with foundation models beyond black-box use.

  4. Familiarity with one or more deep learning frameworks (e.g. pytorch, tensorflow, …)

  5. Experience communicating complex research to public audiences of peers.

  6. Knowledge in a programming language.

  7. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  1. Experience in AI research beyond completing a PhD.

  2. Experience in developing and debugging beyond ML experimentation.

  3. Experience in working in an industry research environment.

  4. Experience in coordinating the research of PhD students or other researchers.

Public Compensation:

$177,000/year to $251,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
