Job Title: Payroll Associate

Reports to: Payroll Director

Location: Hybrid

Schedule: M-F, 9AM – 5PM EST

Salary Range: 60K-75K* *New hires are typically brought into the organization between the minimum to midpoint of the salary range posted depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role.

Position Overview:

Under the supervision of the Payroll Director, the Payroll Associate will perform duties necessary to ensure the timely process for the organization’s bi-weekly payroll utilizing Workday software. Payroll experience required, Workday preferred.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and processing of payroll for multiple pay groups, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Process new hire documentation and verify payroll records ensuring all taxes and deduction are accurate and in compliance.

  • Verify and input employee data, including hours worked, tax information, and other relevant details into the payroll system.

  • Assist in processing wage garnishments, deductions, and other special payroll transactions as needed.

  • Support in Time and Attendance processes and ensuring all absences and PTOs are up to date.

  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees in a timely and professional manner.

  • Assist in generating and distributing payroll reports and statements.

  • Maintain accurate and organized payroll records, both physical and electronic.

  • Stay up to date on changes in payroll regulations and tax laws to ensure compliance.

  • Conduct audits to ensure accuracy and maintain data integrity.

  • Provide support to leadership team for various other payroll related projects.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field of study or equivalent work experience.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Highly prefer the candidate have Fundamental Payroll Certification.

  • Experience in Workday is highly preferred.

  • Basic understanding of payroll principles, tax regulations, and wage laws.

  • Proficiency with payroll software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive payroll information with discretion.
