Location: Hybrid-Flexed

Salary range: $80K to $104K*

*New hires are typically brought into the organization between the minimum to midpoint of the salary range posted depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role.

Position Overview:

The Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring month-end close and accounting deliverables are accurately, timely and efficiently. This position is also responsible for the management of accounting staff and requires collaboration with departments supporting and utilizing financial information.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Supervise staff in performance of their duties including annual performance evaluations

  • Mentor/coach and continue to train and develop staff in order to allow for better utilization and efficiency of team members and responsibilities.

  • Review and approve various journal entries and month end reconciliations prepared by team members.

  • Oversee daily cash monitoring of incoming receipts and outgoing disbursements for daily cash flow reports.

  • Upload positive pay files to banking institution for all accounts payable disbursements and payroll checks issued.

  • Ensures that the monthly close calendar is adhered to and that all close and compliance procedures are met.

  • Perform balance sheet and income statement analyses as assigned and requested by the Controller.

  • Assist with preparation and review of monthly, quarterly and annual financial and compliance reporting.

  • Supports annual audits - Manage/supervise the general accounting staff in providing external auditor request.

  • Provide assistance to the Controller with various finance related initiatives covering special project requests, financial analysis and accounting system maintenance.

  • Support leadership on special projects.

  • Provide strategic financial advice to senior management

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.

  • CPA a plus

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience.

  • Experience in preparing, tracking, and analyzing reimbursement claims for New York City, New York State, Federal or non-governmental funding sources.

  • Experience in non-profit sector or government.

  • Knowledge of indirect cost rate and cost allocation methodologies a plus.

  • Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

  • Mastery of Microsoft Excel.

  • Experience with Sage Intacct a plus

  • Ability to work well within a team environment.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.

  • Problem solving skills and a can-do approach to work.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.

  • Communicate effectively to Finance department leadership.

Physical Requirements:

  • Will frequently communicate over video calls with internal and external stakeholders to provide status updates and potential roadblocks

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position more than 50% of the time while reviewing data on a screen
