What you'll do…

As a Packaging Engineer you will be responsible for all retail packaging and labeling used in the manufacture and distribution of retails products, including retail packaging and overpacks, and manufacturing WIP packaging.

You will be responsible for leading the development and launch of packaging innovations, cost reductions, and productivity and quality improvements, for The Fountainhead Group.

Under the direction of the VP of Engineering, you will be the main point of contact for our cross-functional stakeholders for all packaging related topics.

Bring new solutions and innovative ideas to the team, while building a corporate packaging strategy, including packaging cost reductions.

Organizational Leadership:

You bring technical equipment and material knowledge to the organization

You provide improvements to department and enterprise-wide processes and ways of working

You stay abreast of industry trends and technology developments to leverage outside ideas and technical solutions

You work with our supply base to share and utilize best practices.

Technical Leadership

You execute the qualification and approval processes for new packaging, suppliers, or manufacturing locations.

You are a proven problem solver and utilize analytical thinking to identify the root cause of an issue.

You support the pipeline development/validation/execution of packaging productivity projects.

You have…

  • A BS or MS degree in Packaging, or a related degree

  • At least 3 years of relevant retail experience in package engineering, development and manufacturing qualification, start-up & new product projects

  • Strong foundational knowledge in packaging materials, processes, and equipment

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Detailed knowledge of corrugated packaging for retail products, including ability to develop specs and die lines, and work with packaging suppliers on development.

  • Experience developing die lines and material specifications for cartons, boards, hang cards, other paper products, and adhesive labels.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator or similar graphic design software.

  • Experience with MS Office Products – Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Pluses…

  • Experience working directly with suppliers to coordinate packaging development and production.

  • Experience developing and certifying Frustration-Free and SIOC Packaging for Amazon.

  • Detailed understanding of:

  • ISTA and similar transportation testing of packaging.

  • domestic and international packaging regulations.

  • Detailed understanding of, and experience working with, barcodes, QR codes and RFID labels for retail packaging.
