Amazon's Worldwide Carbon team is dedicated to working across the company with our business units to make operational changes to accelerate solutions and decarbonize our businesses in service of The Climate Pledge.

The Worldwide Carbon team is seeking a Sr. Program Manager, Decarbonization Standards and Strategy to support our interim decarbonization pathways and our path to reach net-zero carbon. This role will collaborate closely with Amazon’s science and carbon measurement teams on academic research, and support the business on abatement solutions and sectoral policies. The ideal candidate will have a cross-sectoral background in climate change, with experience in large program coordination and strategy setting across multiple sectors and Business Units. Desired experience includes setting and implementing decarbonization strategies, and developing new standards.

Key job responsibilities:

• Collaborate with Worldwide Carbon organization and Amazon Business Units to continuously raise the bar on Amazon’s decarbonization strategy and implementation mechanisms, including sectoral glidepaths and forecasts.

• Build relationships and trust with external academics, civil society, standard setters, and industry leaders working in decarbonization.

• Collaborate with Amazon’s Sustainability Science, Technology, and Finance teams to continuously improve approaches to planning and tracking decarbonization and adhering to industry-leading Greenhouse Gas accounting standards.

• Serve as an internal subject matter expert on decarbonization topics, carbon accounting, and Net Zero. As needed, develop guidance materials to distribute across relevant teams and leaders.

• Work with diverse stakeholders to develop, coordinate, and incubate new abatement solutions.

• Build relationships and trust with external academics, civil society, and suppliers working in decarbonization.

Basic Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience with planning and execution of carbon measurement tools in private sector institutions with carbon accounting expertise.

• Experience working cross-functionally across sectors and addressing diverse business needs.

• Track record of convening diverse stakeholders from civil society, industry, and government around climate change mitigation interventions.

• Strong understanding of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHGP), ISSB, and leading industry standards.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in relevant academic field (environmental science, sustainability, carbon accounting) or equivalent professional experience in decarbonization.

• Track record of convening and building trust among diverse stakeholders from civil society, industry, and government around climate change mitigation interventions.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $125,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $207,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
