Ready to be part of a team that tackles infrastructure challenges? Want to take your Engineering expertise to the next level to work on tough projects that will make a huge impact on the community? Parsons is now hiring an experienced Structural Engineer for our Engineering Team.

Parsons is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer with mid to high level experience on industrial facility projects. Design and operational experience on critical data center projects, pharmaceutical facilities and chemical plants is considered a significant plus. Willingness to travel periodically to other Parsons’ offices, clients’ offices, supplier facilities, and project site locations is expected. Position is full time in Syracuse, NY.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs complex engineering tasks and particularly important engineering work efficiently and accurately.

  • Prepares engineering estimates, computations, and designs.

  • Extract engineering information from CAD drawings, Navisworks 3D or vendor drawings.

  • Participate in project coordination with surveying, civil, mechanical, process, and electrical disciplines.

  • Prepare structural calculations utilizing design software, perform reviews for comments and quality control.

  • Solid knowledge of ASCE-7, IBC, CBC, and other industry specifications.

  • Completes a variety of assignments such as drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes.

  • Frequently interfaces with vendors, clients, and building officials, as well as to conduct field visits as necessary.

  • Prepares and issues specifications, datasheets, and other construction documents.

  • Provides technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project.

  • May act in an advisory capacity to senior management personnel on engineering related matters.

  • Review and validation of construction RFI responses

  • Review and approval of shop drawings and construction models

  • Field engineering QA during construction and commissioning support

  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or related field) and 8+ years of related work experience

  • Semiconductor experience preferred

  • Knowledge of design practices including specifications, codes, building materials and costs, and construction techniques.

  • Working knowledge of different analysis software such as RISA, Enercalc or equivalents.

  • Working knowledge of applicable Building Codes, ASCE7, AISC, ACI and Standards

  • Experience in facility system design and the preparation of structural design, drawings, and specifications.

  • Experience in design utilizing different material steel, concrete, etc.

  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team of engineers and designers on multiple, concurrently executed projects.

  • Good organizational and communication skills. Expresses ideas concisely and clearly, both orally and in writing.

  • Accepts responsibility for own actions and honors commitments.

  • Willingness and ability to travel to client offices, other Parsons’s offices, and project sites for meetings, performing inspections and walk-downs and to assist field personnel and construction team with structural technical issues.

  • Proficient in using office personal computers, office networks, and the Microsoft Office software suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).

Salary Range:

$83,300.00 - $145,800.00
