We are looking for a Rolling Stock Finance and Performance Intern. This position will be based at our Manhattan area office in New York.

During your summer journey with us, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself as a Finance and Performance Intern in the Finance and Performance Management department, where you will learn how financial planning, reporting and controlling is conducted to successfully steer Mobility’s complex North American business through its growth.

A little bit about us!

Siemens Mobility provides efficient and coordinated transportation of people and goods by rail – including rolling stock, rail automation, rail electrification, and service. We craft and manufacture across the entire spectrum of rolling stock, including commuter and regional passenger trains, light rail and streetcars, metros, locomotives, passenger coaches, and high-speed trainsets. Cities and Railroads also rely on us to provide traction-power substations and electricity transmission, as well as signaling and control technology for freight and passenger rail and transit systems.

How does our department play into the big picture?

Our Finance and Performance Management Department is responsible for all financial planning, reporting and controlling tasks in Mobility’s North American region. The team aims to enable fact-based decisioning that drives business performance to safeguard and foster trust in Siemens Mobility’s capabilities and financial integrity. It is further dedicated to cultivating a culture of fairness, transparency and continuous improvement enhancing sustainable growth.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Learn about our monthly forecast and reporting processes

  • Work with experienced financial experts to learn about the core principles of financial integrity and financial KPI analysis through shadowing and the assignment of relevant tasks to build up your practical knowledge.

  • Interface with different areas of the Finance and Performance Management department and learn about how collaboration and teamwork drives success

  • Gain insight into Finance and Performance Management’s essentials related to activities such as: Project Performance Reviews, Data Handling and Analytics, Report Aggregation and Presentations, Financial Close Support and many more

Who Should Apply?

  • Business Administration/ Finance or similar from an accredited college or university

  • Availability: 40 hours per week from June to August

  • Work Authorization: Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization

  • Prior internship or co-op experience (preferred) with a preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0

  • Demonstrated leadership potential

  • Strong analytical, writing, presentation, and critical-thinking skills

  • Must reside or go to school near internship location Manhattan (New York)

You’ll benefit from:

The hourly pay range for this position is $22 - $26 per hour, based off of your projected graduation year. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location. Additionally, interns for Siemens are eligible to contribute into our 401K program.
