TITLE: Associate Director, Corporate Banking, Media and Telecom
DUTIES: The Bank of Nova Scotia seeks Associate Director, Corporate Banking, Media and Telecom in New York, NY to work closely with the Managing Directors to prospect new clients as well as manage existing client relationships including identifying lending and cross-sell ancillary business opportunities. Responsible for handling all execution related activities including, preparing credit applications and recommendations for adjudication to Corporate Credit. Managing an assigned client portfolio, structuring loan transactions including leverage finance transactions, performing financial analysis, building cash flow models, handling client requests for waivers, amendments and refinancings of credit facilities and reviewing legal documentation. Conduct due diligence on transactions that vary in complexity with a deep understanding of credit products. Negotiate loan terms and documentation. Work closely with specialized product partners (Trade Finance, Derivatives Cash Management, Foreign Exchange, and Fixed Income) to put together pitch materials for client meetings. Understand and consider the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture in day-to-day activities and decisions. Play a key role in the training, development and coaching of Analysts and Associates.
REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Business Administration, Management or a related field and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation: assessing the financial health of corporate clients by analyzing financial statements, cash flow, and profitability including financial ratios, trends and key performance indicators; assessing corporate client’s ability to repay loans; identifying, analyzing, structuring and preparing credit applications with recommendations for review by Corporate Credit; reviewing loan documentation; participating in prospecting new clients and managing existing client relationships within Media and Telecom sector including identifying lending and cross-selling ancillary business opportunities; performing due diligence on new transactions; preparing financial models on leveraged finance transactions to determine if client has enough free cash flow to repay its debt at maturity; and maintaining industry knowledge across various Media and Telecom subsectors. Telecommuting and/or working from home may be permissible pursuant to company policies. When not telecommuting, must report to work site. FINRA Series SIE required. FINRA Series 79 required. FINRA Series 63 required. 30% travel required internationally and nationally. Offered salary is between $185,000 and $185,000 per year. 40 hours per week.
