This position reports into Category Strategy Manager and is based at Ultimo. This is a 12 month MAT Leave cover position.

What you will do

The Category Manager is responsible for bringing an outside in view by providing insights into the drivers of category and market performance to inform business decision making. You will complete analysis of complex data patterns and trends, communicating key findings to internal and external stakeholders and support the sales team with customer presentation needs. You will also partner with the brand teams to prepare go to market NPI plans including sales briefings, sell in decks and activation plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilising Category trends & category growth drivers to develop strategic category insights to inform category growth initiatives

  • Partnering with CBI on Shopper Insights to understand shoppers behaviour, shopper missions and shopper decision making

  • Lead Category Strategy Development including range, must stock list, planogram, pricing, promotional strategy and NPI NLF including cannibalisation and incrementally assumptions by account

  • Be the key contributor to the category review process including cross functional team brief, analysis to set range review objectives, building category narrative and fact-based recommendation for three-way win

  • Partner with Account teams in customer engagements by providing category growth and performance drivers and supporting NAMs in customer engagements

  • Collaboratively partnering with Marketing on growth planning to input into holistic growth plans & partner with the Account Teams to translate growth plans into tailored account plans and 12-month rolling activation calendar

  • Partner with Brand to prepare the GTM plans for NPI including preparing all sales briefs, NLF’s, key sell in decks, activation plans and is responsible for tracking performance in market

  • Identifying and feeding category shopper insights into integrated marketing briefs to deliver strong E2E campaigns

  • Providing Category Analysis and insight into category & competitor performance and drivers to inform decision making whilst working collaboratively with the Business Intelligence team and marketing on development and execution of Business Unit RGM program

  • Be the representative for category in IBP meetings, communicating category performance drivers in DCM and define risks and opportunities

Qualifications

What we are looking for

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or related field

  • 3 years of FMCG experience across category/sales/trade marketing

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make strategic decisions

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams

  • Ability to think analytically to understand business problems or issues and communicate solutions/conclusions clearly and concisely

  • Ability to think creatively and outside of the box to identify new opportunities for growth

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
