LHC Group Director of Managed Care Contracting in New Orleans, Louisiana

The Director of Managed Care Contracting leads a contracting team to initiate, negotiate, and execute agreements with LHC Group partners, including MCOs, ACOs, ASOs, other appropriate parties. The Director position requires an in-depth understanding of healthcare reimbursement, payor contracting, and how organization capabilities interrelate across the function or segment as well as how to manifest those capabilities into payor agreements.

Essential Functions


  • Lead team of contractors

  • Negotiates contract terms, payment structures, and reimbursement rates with payers

  • Analyzes financial impact of contracts and terms

  • Maintains contracts and documentation within a tracking system

  • Works closely with other leaders in Managed Care to ensure optimal processes across the department

  • Strong organization and prioritizing skills

  • Ability to make sound decisions based on urgency, fact, guidelines, goals and regulations

  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as work independently

  • Strong communication skills – including both written and verbal etiquette

  • Extremely detail-oriented and efficient

  • Ability to work on repetitive tasks as well as miscellaneous projects with minimal direction

  • Ability to be agile and change focus quickly

  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines

  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office

Education & Experience


  • Bachelor's Degree required

  • Master’s Degree preferred


  • 5+ years extensive provider/payer contracting experience

  • 5+ years proven leadership experience, including teambuilding

  • Experience with ACO/Risk Contracting

  • Value based contracting experience

  • Established provider relationships across the country is preferred

  • Proven contract preparation skills, with an in-depth knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Medicare Advantage, VA and other reimbursement methodologies

  • Strong financial acumen with proficiency in analyzing and interpreting financial trends in the managed care market
