Crescent City Schools 2023-2024 Director of Instruction in New Orleans, Louisiana
The Director of Instruction impacts students’ and teachers’ lives by:
Supporting (including training as necessary) school-based DCIs to do the following:
Lead data meetings with teachers
Use SchoolMint Grow to track observations
Lead coaching meetings
Lead summer and ongoing content-based professional development
Coaching leaders in the network to implement the No Nonsense Nurturer behavior management system
Supporting instructional leaders and data managers to implement interim testing in all four major subjects.
Coordinating with the Director of Data and Technology to support school-level data analysis
Designing and revising interim assessments in science and social studies
Leading the network to implement MAP testing in K-1-2.
Leading the network to implement Dibels reading testing in K-8
Supporting instructional leaders to implement CLASS in PreK
Supporting principals and school-based leaders to ensure we choose and procure curriculum materials to support instruction
Coordinating with the Chief Academic Officer and Chief of Schools to conduct yearly school reviews
Designing and implementing the Crescent City Schools Mentor Teacher training program to ensure that CCS certifies mentor teachers every school year.
Coordinating with outside curriculum vendors to secure resources for CCS schools.
Liaising with New Schools for New Orleans to ensure CCS accesses all resources available to support instruction
Liaising with the Louisiana Department of Education to support initiatives including but not limited to:
Super App
Accountability changes
Teacher Leader Summit
UIR/CIR work
Be an active member of the Schools team by meeting weekly to collaborate to ensure support is strategic and leads to the successful attainment of network and school-based goals.
Be an active member of the CMO central office team and be willing to jump into various roles in both the Central office and individual schools.
Apply now if you:
Have 8+ years of experience in urban public education, with demonstrated academic success as both a teacher and an instructional leader.
Have the ability to implement feedback immediately and consistently
Have a deep understanding of Tier 1 curriculum implementation
Are flexible
Knowledge of the No Nonsense Nurturer model is a plus
Knowledge of the New Orleans educational landscape is a plus
Physical Requirements
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
This is an in-person role.
